When I first heard that the Foleo would not support the Treo 680 initially I was really disappointed. Then I got to thinking that I could really live without email sync. I wouldn't at all mind using webmail through the browser and ignore the email app until somebody ports a real email client down the line. However, the use of DUN for internet access through my Treo 680 is non-negotiable. Without that, the Foleo would be a really hard sell for me.

My question simply is what is the stumbling block in getting Foleo to work with the Treo 650 and 680? Is it with syncing email with Versamail, or is it in using DUN to get internet access? Lot's of people use DUN today with their laptops so I don't see why this wouldn't work, but it would be pretty easy to distribute a new version of Versamail so I don't see why that wouldn't work either. Or is the holdup simply that it probably does work but there are not sufficient resources to test it fully with those models?

I think this is kinda pushing it on Ben Lets just let Ben answer when he can on our threads. I think he has shown great participation already in our discussions here

Oh yes, Ben has been doing a great job answering our questions. I'm sure none of us originally expected someone who is working directly on the Foleo to be participating here in these forums. Especially someone who checks on a daily basis. I can't really envision many other companies having someone take the time to do this.

And I think the point of the thread was to make it easier for Ben to find questions so he doesn't have to search through each individual thread, however... the questions are going to naturally come up in other threads just out of the discussion that is going on in there, so I'm not sure how well this would work out. It's so much easier to just hit reply when the question pops into your head.

Agreed. Let Ben be a member of this community and participate where he can and when he has time.

Yeah, the idea was to consolidate technical questions for his convenience and leave the discussions in other threads. But I don't really care that much. I just want my question answered!

Let's just let Ben decide what Ben wants to do. I think he's done a great job of doing just that. He answers some and doesn't answer others.

So here's my question for Ben. Do you like the idea of putting all questions for you in one thread or should we continue posting them as we have been doing.

Ok let's say people start pouring questions in to Ben. Then what? Ben's now obligated? What happens when he starts getting abused because he doesn't take the time to answer somebody's question or doesn't respond fast enough. It's amazing how rude a *few* people have been at times because he wasn't providing all the info they wanted.
I enjoy viewing Ben's postings here and other places; but, I'd much rather him focused on foleo development. There's a big difference between being involved and being targeted/obligated/???? (my words.)

It really all depends on how he, himself views this thread. If he doesn't reply to this one, I think we can safely assume that this thread is a no go.

There's no obligation. He'll either answer them or he won't. Each answer is greatly appreciated.

Seeing the name of this thread and seeing how some have posted in the past, I will be surprised if he goes for it. Unfortunately Gameboy70, not everyone is as curteous as you and many others are. Thankfully the negative perceptions about the Foleo has diminished somewhat as the concept, the product and its use are more clearly understood. But how long do you think it would be before people start responding to his posts with messages like "Stop wasting time and fix my 700p!" ??
Sorry for the pessimistic view. Company people too often become targets of those wanting to vent. Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe Ben will go for it. And may be this could turn out to be the place of productive dialogue between Palm and it users that so many of us desire.

I'm guessing that since he has made a post (or more) after this thread was created, then it's a "no".

I certainly get what you're saying 1PTUser, it does make it much easier for degenerate questions to come up.

I also am glad that this forum is the way that it is, and that the talk even if negative, is at least pretty well thought out and discussed. I've peeked in at other Foleo forums, and they're dead, or just really disruptive.

Probably part of the reason that bcombee does post here in the first place.

People have a right to ask any question they want -- politely -- but there are only so many answers they can reasonably expect about an unreleased product. I think Ben understands that some people are pinging him for what answers he can and can't give, while others are disguising their objections to the Foleo in rhetorical questions. At the last preview I witnessed a Palm presenter listen to a litany of frustrations from a disgruntled Treo user. While I continually find it odd that anyone would become emotionally disturbed by an inanimate object, I'm sure that Palm employees understand that part of what they're getting paid for is fielding complaints.

Ben, on the other hand, is presumably here on his own time, out of goodwill, so he owes us nothing. If he can answer a question, great. We can be anxious for information, but it should be understood that we're not entitled to it until the product is actually released.

I'd really rather just answer questions on individual threads... I don't want the conversation to be about me, and I don't want to discourage other people from answering questions. There are some questions that I'm not going to answer or even hint at -- they get too close to the "we can't talk about future plans or some device specs" line. Sorry.
