    If this rumor is true, Amazon will be selling more tablets than everyone except Apple. This is in response to the Nook Color, which has been selling well for rival Barnes & Noble. They are probably looking to target the $250 price range of the Nook.

    With the iPad being the clear market leader and Amazon and Barnes & Noble looking to corner the low-end tablet market, HP needs to come up with a more compelling alternative if they seek to make any headway into the tablet market.

    Because Amazon sells a LOT of various tablets, including iPads.

    Amazon is going to release a 7" and 10" Android tablet, seperate from the Kindle line of devices.

    Amazon is going to have 2 lines of Amazon branded devices; the Kindle line of eReaders and a line of Android tablets.

    Amazon has positioned themselves well to enter the tablet market. They'll likely end up being the biggest competitor to the iPad.
