Here's the corrected link: AppleInsider | JP Morgan: Apple's iPad rivals reduce build plans after 'early dose of reality'

Article notes that the non-Apple manufacturers reduced their build plans due to low sales.. therefore, those HP numbers are for the Slate, and not the TouchPad.

They say that Asustech has reduced it's estimated tablet shipments to 1.75 million.

The Asustech CEO just apologized for the intense shortage of $399 Transformer tablets because they were only making 7-8000 a day. Asus is ramping up production to 10,000 a day and promises 2 million of this one tablet will ship this year.

Best Buy sells other Asus tablets that also tend to sell out as fast as they are listed back in stock:

    Asus - Tablet / Intel® Core™ 12.1" Display / 2GB Memory / 32GB

    Asus - Tablet / Intel® Core™ 12.1" Display / 4GB Memory / 64GB

Amazon carries 8 other Asus tablets again with most sold out as fast as shipments come in.

Sell a great 10" tablet at $399 today and you can sell all you can make. See the Tablet Comparison.

I do agree with the reduced Samsung tablet estimates. At $499, it does not matter that the Tab 10.1 is the thinnest and lightest with a great screen. It does match the HDMI, 1080p HD record, microSD, but is $100 over-priced.

Likewise the $599 Motorola Xoom is estimated at 2.25 million units. No way they can hit that now. Once Best Buy got the Acer Iconia in at $449 with a working microSD and a true 1080p record, Xoom sales dried up.

The HP figure says 4 million. The HP Slate only sold something like 50-100K, right? This is for the TP.

It's not saying much when wall street was looking at Apple to sell 45-50 million of ipads for the year. EVERYBODY including Apple is going to sell less tablets this year than wall street estimated.
