Any clues on whether we can install Ubuntu Touch Preview on the touchpad begin Feb 21? Says will be able to install on Galaxy Nexus and Nexus 4, "we love the tablet" etc.
I like the touchpad hardware a lot and still use webOS every day, lunace version, but the browser lack of functionality is slowly destroying the experience for me. Hope we can get something going on the touchpad besides android, I have no need to buy yet another tablet with a 1st gen kindle fire and ipad also sitting around, I just need my 2 touchpads to be more functional. Looks like on the 21st it will be Galaxy Nexus (Samsung) and Nexus 4 (LG) phones only, but they will try to expand the compatibility list as the year rolls on...
I think they (Canonical) will aim at more current hardware than the TP... Just a guess. So then the question becomes if any Developers here will attempt a port.

Finally found an article in-house...
Canonical delivers Ubuntu Touch for tablets | Android Central Nexus 7 and 10 tablets targeted as well... I guess I was thrown off by the links in the article bluenote brought in the OP. It will be interesting to see if the Tablet and Phone versions are one.

The Touch Developer Preview of Ubuntu will be published on the 21st February 2013 with installation instructions for the Nexus 7 and Nexus 10 tablet devices as well as smartphones such as the Nexus 4 and Galaxy Nexus. Installable images and source code will be available from developer.ubuntu.com.
Perhaps it can re-compiled for the HP Touchpad. |

Again: we have a WORKING 13.04 alpha of Ubuntu with working bluetooth, wifi et all so why wouldn't those same devs be interested in porting over Ubuntu Touch? It's open source and could be based on the same 13.04 kernel we currently have for the Touchpad 13.04 alpha.

Porting Ubuntu Touch is as Simple as Building CM – xda-developers
"...Since Ubuntu Touch is just a CyanogenMod 10.1 base with the Ubuntu Touch interface running in a container and accessed via*chroot, if your device currently runs CM10.1 then you’ll be able to port this. The instructions for porting are found on Ubuntu’s Wiki*and are quite extensive, so make sure you follow them EXACTLY..."

Ubuntu Touch works on the Touchpad. Take it with a grain of salt. It's unstable, but that's par for the course. Check it out. Translate if necessary...
