Nokia has cloned the Touchstone

Both of the Nokia phones annouced yesterday can do wireless charging.

Good idea...I'm glad somebody else has figured out a way to implement it into their newest devices...I admired Palm for doing this in 2009, now others are figuring out how to make it happen in their mobile devices...cool.

seems like a winning strategy, see if HP/palm got the idea out there but ultimatly drop the ball with, then you know its a winning product for a real company with balls to market.

That'll probably be the one feature that'll lock me into one of the new Nokia phones. Honestly, it's been somewhat unbelievable that no one's copied it until now...

Same here. If I can get it on T-Mobile, then the Lumia 920 will be my my next phone. I'll keep my Galaxy Nexus in hopes of Open webOS.

While I'm really glad to see Nokia push this technology forward with their phones....Even if they had brought wireless charging to their stylish Nokia phones, it wouldn't make me buy them just to Microsoft crappy OS of windows mobile. Like the tiles effect that it updates information without having to open any application, but the black-ground and color rainbow screen don't like them.

Like the attempts at multi-tasking, I like the palm way better. Looks like one would need both nokia charges to accomplish what the palm Touchstone does. Unless the stand up one has an hinge. And the palm touchstone just looks better to me

AFAIK he is still taking time off.... you thinkin of John Kneeland? And Richard Kerris? I know they are both currently with Nokia, might be some other ex-palm staff there as well but those too I know off the top of my head (I have problems....)

Saw the video of the nokia ceo on ABC. "Were introducing wireless charging" he said. "(You're at home or in the office you just set it down and it charges"

They didn't clone it, they went two better - by adopting common standards (qi and NFC) rather than going with cheesy proprietary tech.

Nothing cheezy about touchstone. Those nokia things look cheesy to me. The stand up one reminds me of ten years go when I had a charging dock with the pins in the bottom.

By the way, I went to the att store to play with a lumina and I have to say the pictures don't do it justice, that's easily the ugliest phone of the modern era

My local Frys had the lumia 9 dummy phone ... so it's not like holding the real thing, ATT had a dummy last time I asked too.

Guy at Frys tried to hard sell me saying the price was going up once the firmware update hit.... I told him the firmware update had landed like 2 days prior, the other sales guy was like yeah it's already out, then bad sales guy was like oh yeah I know, but they are just keeping the price at 99 for the weekend. Then I went off on him as my wife was dragging me away.
