Something from HTC because Palm sucks, so I want a Touch Pro, Touch HD, or a Treo Pro.

Suggestion: maybe make the PPC-6700 an option...

Tough choice. I don't think the 700p (as I assume it will be) or PPC-6700 offer enough over the 650 to justify a change but the K-Jam is very tempting. If the Microsoft-Palm cooperation means that the Win platform will take on some of the nicer characteristics of the Palm interface that would make it even better, especially if it makes it easier to one-hand.

Personally, I really like built-in Wifi and no antenna.

Still happy with the 650 at this point, let's see how I vote after the K-Jam has been out long enough for the price to drop and all the quirks to be discovered and maybe fixed.

Personally I prefer the 650 and have high hopes for the 700w.

The main reason I do not like the k-jam is I have many shortcuts and hate the idea of a hidden keyboard.

I do not need Wi-fi but it would be nice, I would prefer EVDO.

The 6700 is basically the same as the K-Jam, just CDMA instead of GSM (but with an external antenna and a 400MHz XScale processesor).

You are right, I was distracted by a call while typing and had meant to say that the 6700 was only CDMA while I need GSM. Surprised it took this long sor someone to catch my mistake.

I was sent a Wizzard (KJAM) to "play with."

I've had it a few days but haven't really put it through real tests yet. I will this coming week.

That said, my initial thought is I'm not replacing my Treo.

Pocket PC gets very boring after a while, you will hate to turn it on.
If only palm makes a solid PALM unit the 700P with no annoying bugs and fully tested.
Not like the treo 650 (which i thought at one time they would recall), but hey i love my treo 650 and wouldnt give it up for anything, since there is not better phone that better IMO as of now!
Made this just for fun...I'm Kermit

What do you mean by boring?

I'm tempted only because I really want built-in WIFI.
I love my Treo 650 for the most part but GPRS is ridiculously expensive in Canada.

i think the hidden keyboard makes up for the larger screen.

    @ Camel,
I love my Treo! As time has progressed I find more and more uses for the treo, the problem is that the more apps I install on the unit the more I have had to reset the 650! I think the design of the 650 is the best out there, but with the features of 5.0 i think the palm os just is not up to task. I have high hopes for 700w, but the bigger screen on the K-Jam is just so hard to pass up.

As of right now, 47% for the KJam, 42% for the 650 and 10% for the 700. WOW! If I were palm, I'd be worried. To add insult to injury, this is on TREOCentral! Treo fans are looking to other devices at an alarmingly high rate.

What bothers me about the KJAM is the ability, or lack there of, of one hand operation. The KJAM can do it somewhat but many things require finger tapping which isn't easy with smaller buttons.

well hopefully i will be writing my review of the k-jam soon enough...and maybe lion battery will be making an extended battery (but of the same size) for it...like the treo 650

After spending $600 for the unlocked 650 just over 7 months ago, I will be holding onto it for another year or so.

That's my attitude as well. New devices are always SO expensive, that it doesn't really make much sense to purchase one now. Also, there will undoubtedly be a few issues with WM5, so that is another reason to wait for a few months or so.

But it is a neat little device, so we'll see how things are looking in six months or so.

Well, let me start by saying I am a long time Palm user, back to the first Handspring Visor Deluxe with 2Mb of ram...

That said, I have used the PPC-6700 for almost 3 weeks now. It is a nice device, but I am sticking with my Treo. EVDO is addicting, though. I averaged 600 kilobits/second. With wifi I was over 1 megabit/second. That is what I really will miss. Pocket IE is a major pain (imo). So even if our next POS Treo doesn't have wifi (I can't believe they would do that to us) it would still be ok as long as you have EVDO coverage.

Does Sprint charge extra for their EVDO service? Or is that included in the standard $15/month data plan?

There is plenty of POS users that can't stand Blazer (me included) that choose to use Xiino or another 3rd party browser. Likewise, there is plenty who don't use PIE on there PPC, they use a 3rd party browser. No difference. If you didn't like Blazer, would you dump your Treo? I doubt it. I know I wouldn't (and haven't).

I tried out a couple of HTC Wizard models for 3 weeks and my final decision is to stick with my Treo 650. I may get a Wizard once US carriers release them, but for now I'll let others have fun with the latest and greatest and stick with my excellent one-handed Treo 650.
