This is the Xplore M68, which runs OS 5.4 (Garnet), not the Cobalt device rumoured to be in the works from the same manufacturer.

    Rumour:

It would be nice to see something with Cobalt, even nicer if it works well!

Yeah, GSPDA claimed that they eventually would be the first ones to release a Cobalt smartphone, but the M68 is not it. However it does look like a nice device though...

I m impressed. Palm should commission them to make the keyboardless version of Treo, They finally pack in a real SD slot, awesome.

I am not famliar with the CPU, is it faster or slower than the 650?

Infosynch World gave this phone a nice preview.

"A number of small tweaks, alterations and user interface changes have, as is the case with the Treo line of communicators, resulted in a device that is far more user friendly than your average Palm OS smartphone or communicator. Obviously, text input is somewhat hampered by having only a keypad as opposed to a thumbboard, but those who favour data lookup more than data entry might very well be just as well served by the M68 as by a Treo device - and that's saying something. "

I kinda like it! Not bad specs either. Am I right in thinking that the screen is touch sensitive? If so, where is the stylus?

I thought Cobalt was supposed to be 6.0 or higher. Is Palm Garnet 5.4 the same as Cobalt?

More info on Cobalt, much of it a re-hash. Still, I'm drooling...

    5.4 is "garnet"

    6.x is "cobalt"

In this case the Xplore M68 is not Cobalt powered, as the thread seems to imply. Still looks good. Gimme one with the flip form. I'll buy it.

Why wait on palmone? There's already a thumbboardless palmos smartphone out there by Pitech (a la treo 180g for the ol' timers here) called the Qool QDA 700:

Anybody have any idea on cost/ availability on the M68 yet? Not been able to find any more information on the net......

Emailed eXpansys for cost/ availability- here's the reply:

    Hello,

We are offering this phone in 3 colours, though as yet we are waiting for the phone to be released and to be sent to us. As soon as it does, we can ship them. We are currently taking pre-orders for this item.

    Kind Regards
    eXpansys

The M68 screen is advertised at 160 x 220 pixels, displaying 65k colours. Is this screen no better/ clearer/ sharper than the Treo 600's?
