Noob can't be for real people. I think he is just trying to lie and badmouth PPC's (who knows why). Only reason I can come to this is the complete BS he keeps on ranting about his experience with this phone. The people who have one know its everything but SLOW.

Slow?!? Why is it I just got home, using my BT headset on a phonecall for 30 minutes, all the while playing MP3's to my car stereo, while my GPS was giving me directions. My PHONE STILL DID'T LAG. Very fast while multitasking everything!

LOL With grammar like that, I guess that we should all listen to this guy!

Everyone with an IQ under 50 needs to re-read my posts. The phone didn't work for me because it was slower than regular phones (also noted by other people), had terrible earpiece clarity (also complained about by other people), was larger than what I really needed, was more PDA than phone for my needs.

get a BT earpiece. It should work nicely.

Didn't know I was being tested for grammar here. **Edited**(don't need to go there)

I have read your posts. Every single chance you get you bash this phone. Even a respectful and helpful person like Hobbes gets a smart remark from you.

As I said before, Noob is a waste of time. Don't listen to this guy.

Like I've said NUMEROUS times, the 6601 sounds just fine with a wired or wireless earpiece.

I guess that farzon missed this one: http://discuss.treocentral.com/showthread.php?t=68800

    Noob,
Perhaps you can enlighten us on how we can order a phone only available through telesales without charging it to a credit card or shipping it back? I'm sure others would like to know too. Thanks.

You charge it to your account and then return it to the store if you don't like it and they credit it back to your account. Easy, no?

I have a 650, but also interested in the info in this thread & what others think of this phone...
it would be unfortunate to close this thread to everyone because of a few who are bickering... how bout closing it only to those involved if it keeps up? is that possible? let's all be nice.. everyone entitled to their opinion but we don't have to shove it down each others throat. as we know even w/treo many people having different experiences...
    thanx toolkit.

I am for one of the many that are hanging on the border between 650 and 6600. One of the reasons I love the treo 600, when I had it was all the form fitting cases companies offered for it. I had a vaja case, and man oh man that case was beautiful. The 650 has the same option. I personally hate flip cases because I feel like it takes away the device from being a phone even farther. I have checked everywhere and cannot locate a form fitting case for the 660x anywhere. Is it even possible?
Also for the folks like bob and hobbes, what case do you guys have, and how is it working for you in making and recieving calls?

I also heard that on the 660x the keyboard scratches the device. Is this true?
Bob, duck, and to the users who have this device:

Me and I bet alot of folks here would love it if you guys posted some pics of the device in usage as a phone. I have seen so many pics of the phone itself but cant seem to find a pic with someone holding the phone to there ear and talking. It would help me with judge body to size ratio of the phone.
Does it look wierd talking on the phone? Does the weight of the phone effect talking on long periods of time?
    Pics?

    Thanks guys

P.S. Any updates on the sprint 6600? I cant take this wait any longer.
If they extend the phone past jan. 25th. Im going with 650 for sure.

I use used the form fitting case on my 600 too and loved it. I have not been able to find one for the 660x, i think mainly for the fact of the sliding keyboard. I personally use the Piel Frama case. It is a flip case, but well made and very thin for this type of case. Here is the BEST link for case options I have seen on 5 different forums posted by g.711:

    http://discuss.treocentral.com/showt...281#post503281

I don't have any pictures....my digital camera was stolen.

I haven't noticed any challenges with making calls, even with longer calls. Since the unit is so thin, thinner than the 650, it is harder to hold with your shoulder though. Even with my treo I use a headset as much as possible for convenience and safety.

As for the scratching on the back on of the phone with the sliding keyboard. There have been reports of it, but neither of my two phones have had this issue. I have been using this phone now for around a month.

As for the speed and sound quality of the 660x...I frequent and am active in 4 or 5 forums. I have read most reviews, issues, challenges, etc... about the 660x on each of them. I strive to be fair and balanced with the goal to help those find the phone that fits their needs and wants, no matter what phone that is. I am not saying there are not issues with either speed or sound quality, as the law of averages says there will be with at least one phone....but for what it is worth I cannot recall any major issues with anyone complaining about speed or sound quality other one or two one off, single situations. The speed on my two phones have been nothing but amazing. As posted above, I too run several labor intensive apps at the same time (SBP, music, gps, email syncing, etc..) with out any notice of lag or delay. Nearly all other reports I have seen confirm both of our experiences. The only issue that some of complained about is the speaker phone quality, while others (including my own experience with two phones) confirm their speakerphone quality is good and often times better than their 600 or 650.

Please see my experience I had with a colleague of mine:

Innocent 650 vs 6601 Business Trip Showdown

I will call Sprint today and check on the backorder date for my 6600. As of last week, it was still on track for the 25th.

    I hope this helps.

Speaking of headsets, I hope the Jabra Bt800 comes out this month. Caller Id would be quite nice.

    Thanks hobbes,

I would first like to start off and say that your opinion is very valued here. I have read all your post on all your forums and you seem to be my leading man on this phone. You showed the most enthusiam and seem very non biased between phones in comparison. I have been so tempted to purchase the 6601 but rumors had it that the 6600 might have had some bugs fixed and of course includes the long awaited camera version.

If you dont mind a few more questions:

Do you use the phone in the case, with the lid flipped over your hand? Or do you take it out of the case?

I know that the screen is huge on the phone, any discomfort due to heat of the big screen when talking on the phone? When not using the headset?

The 650 with the vaja case seems to be the perfect phone match. I hope the 6600 will come close to it. I sure wish did brought over the black version though. I also have been tempted to snag a black one off ebay. But thats just way too much trouble of switching carriers and trust to give up.

Speaking of headsets, I hope the Jabra BT800 comes out soon. Caller ID is quite nice to have.
    Thanks again

    Here ya go...

Quick questions, do you use the phone in the case, with the lid flipped over your hand? Or do you take it out of the case?
I use it in the case. My case is made of really nice soft leather that folds back easily without the huge "looping" bulge that others sometimes have. (hopefully you know what I talking about).

Also I know that the screen is huge on the phone, any discomfort due to heat of the big screen when talking on the phone? When not using the headset?
    Nope...none at all.

Speaking of headsets, I hope the Jabra BT800 comes out soon. Caller ID is quite nice to have.
Believe it or not, this is probably the ONLY accessory I have not bought yet. There are some issues with matching BT headsets, but since I haven't jumped that line yet, I am not the one to ask. I know there are good threads on this that could answer your question at PDAphoneHome.com, HoFo.com, Sprintusers.com, etc... Sorry not much more help on this one.

Yep I know and feared that bulge too.

I also have been tempted to dish out the cash and go with 2 devices.

The razor "bluetooth", and dell axim x50v. The x50v has unbelievable resolution and specs. And is very small.

But in the back of my mind I know that all in 1 device is what I really want.

    Anyone have the x50v? comments?
  17. #57
I don't have an answer for the x50v.....but as far as the resolution....believe me when I say that the size of screen more than makes up for the lack of res on paper between at least the 650 and 660x. I have been a corp webmaster and have an eye for this, and side by side there is not much of a noticable difference in resolution to the naked eye between the two. I count this more of a paper spec, in my book.

If I may thread-***** here a bit and answer some of these questions. Hoepfully Hobbes will weigh in as well as his opinion is very valuable as the Godfather of this device and it's use.

I have my device to set to keep the screen off most of the time including phone calls. I haven't noticed any heat from the device on long phone calls. My T600 heated up quite a bit, but the 6600 doesn't seem to generate much heat IMO. Screen off saves battery life as well.

Cases: Haven't yet made a decision. I'm considering having a guy in Calgary make a custom case for the device for protection primarily. I use a headset (wired) most of the time as I just hate holding the phone up to my head (any phone, not just this one) and I generally have the phone out of the case when I use it. Case manufacturers will eventually catch up.

Duck feel welcome to jump into this discussion anytime you like. I value your opinion as well. You are Also the "godfather" of this phone. You and hobbes have given me much insite on this forum and other forums as well.

Yes I agree, when I had the 600 it generated alot of heat from the screen. And my ear was getting irrated from talking long periods of time.

Thank you for clearing that up. Just to be curious is the phone case you thinking about creating a flip or form fitting case.

I even thought about modifying my own case. By using a flip style case and cutting out a portion of the case to see the screen for incoming calls. Of course followed up by a screen protector attached to the cut out portion of the case.
If done neatly I think it would be a great idea. Thoughts anyone? Hobbes? Duck?
No need to open the case for incoming calls if paired with a headset.

Hobbes, I feel the exact same way when comparing the size of the screen and small differintial resoultion. Its like comparing a typical 64 inch tv to a higher resolution 17 inch tv. I think I would rather watch movies on the 64incher.

Actually, it was likely to be a generic horizontal case with a velcro-secured flap and a belt loop. Nothing special at all. Just heavy and secure.
