fact...sprint is in process of dong upgrades to network that has caused me tons of vision issues reqiring many reprovisions.... since IBM merger.... many people affected. talked to CS.. ppc6601- problems sporadic.
I wonder if its the towers in certain areas...needing software/hardware updates or compatibility issues.

Cingular has already started selling the SX66. It has been shipping for a few days now.

The beep noise does appear to be Sprint-related.

Bob, switching to VZN might not be a bad thing. Mine is on the way, got it from Cheryl at pdaphonehome.com Excellent pricing, great unlimited EV-DO data plan, great coverage in my main US hang-outs. I am very excited.

I would have sent Sprint packing long ago with your beep issue, but you didn't have many choices then. Now you do, so make a move. Tell us all about it.

Will do. Waiting to hear from the local VZN Business Rep. Cheryl emailed her the PDF of the 6600 last week. We'll see what she says today.

Gadget: Once you have a few days with the VZN device, can you give us some fedback on their management of the data connection? I'm curious as to whether their "always connected" scheme has major impact on battery life.

Isn't it funny, Cheryl at VZN, Debbie Stanford at SPCS. There always seems to be one or two people at a company that just "get it".

In fact, I think I will call Debbie today to give SPCS one last chance to get this right before I jump.

    Thanks,

    Bob

LOL, it is amazing how serious some people take a joke..
MArk made a good call, since this is TREOcentral and most people want to read about treo's this thread belongs here..
As for the nonsense that we are boycotting PPC discussions: why do you think this (sub)forum is here? Right to discuss (and compare) other platforms..

Let it Go Dster! the mods are right and I think you will find that TC is much more friendly than HOFO mods.
Now back to your question, I think the input you will get here will be from real users or xtreo users who love TC. Further I think you will get the input from people who are thinking about getting a PPC as I am. The reason why is that more seasoned viewer will look at the New Treads link and comment on what is interesting.
Your thread will be viewed, but the products are still a bit new and undeployed at this time.
Just hang around and have fun, I think TC is is still the best for one place for fun viewing, comments and useful info. so relax.

The fact is not every post will get action and a post with two pages of blathering off topic will get you nothing.

Here's another post you can monitor. it may give you some ideas also
    http://discussion.treocentral.com/sh...d=1#post497817

and then there is this one...
    http://discussion.treocentral.com/sh...ad.php?t=66108

and the best overall review is...
    http://www.x-gadget.com/articles/54/...reo-650-review

And don't forget that a sx6600 on Verizon will have EVDO enabled which give you near DSL speed at least from what I have read it is twice as fast as WiFi so if you plan alot of web sufing. Speed is everything.

that review at x-gadget is a joke. if you read the review make sure you read the comments. if you have been following the memory issues you'll notice how mention of the 650 issues are absent. not a good review at all. you usually want someone with an open mind who isnt already biased towards one product giving a review. just look here on tc with old threads by hobbes and nguyen and other users. they are the real treo users giving their own opinions

That x gadget review is a totalk hack job. Notice all the comment are vague and quickly concluded with 'treo rulez, 6601 sucks'

It has no benchmark, no detail hardware comparison, no software comparison, etc. It's a review written by a treo user who has no clue about PPC.

Wow. What a useless post. In case it makes you feel better, I did let it go for a while, now I'm back. If it's any consolation, your next two posts actually have content and no useless platitudes like

I curently have the Siemens SX66. While I have WIFI on the phone, I do not like it so much as not having the EDGE on the phone. So for all the Treo 650 users, how is the EDGE on the phone? What are the differences, dis likes, likes, etc.
    Thanks,

Edge is nice, it's very fast,

    Mobile Speed Test:
    http://www.broadbandreports.com/mspeed

Put that in your browser and see how fast you get.
    Do the 600k test
(WARNING, Remember, Unless you have UNLIMITED Wireless Internet Paln, YOU WILL BE CHARGED FOR THIS, With Cingular it's 3 cents per k if you don't have a plan, that's $18.00!!!
I'm with Cingular with Edge service.

    600k download I get 105 kbit/sec that's almost 2 times faster than dialup
    13.5 kbytes/sec

doing the 600 test with a sprint 650 I get 122 kb.. so edge is not that great going by the comparison.. I do have my blazer overclocked to 468 using pxaclocker so that might be the diffrence.. I'm going to try it without blazer overclocked and report back...
The only time I ever made a mistake was when i thought I did and was mistaken.

doing the same test without overclocking blazer I get 117kb which is great.. I'm in the philadelphia market..

EDGE is a bit overrated in my humble opinion. It is a bit faster than plain GPRS but still very slow relative to WIFI.

Comparing EDGE and WiFi is like comparing apples to oranges. It should only be compared to the other wireless telephone technologies.

Having said all that, I agree it's not fast but anything faster than standard GPRS is better.

Can you explain what overclocking Blazer means? I've never heard of overclocking in relation to software, only to hardware. Do you mean you're using a proxy?
