I think I have made up my mind as to what upgrade path I will take:

    A PPC-6000 paired with a HBH-660 bluetooth headset.

The headset has an LCD that displays caller id info on the headset itself. This will allow me to answer calls without even looking at the phone itself. Combine that with the Voice Dialing and the enhanced features of the headset, and I can make outgoing calls without pulling out the phone also!

I understand there are some issues with doing this right now on the PPC-6000 (specifically, initiating voice command from a bluetooth headset. Imate has already acknowledged this and comitted to solving it in a ROM upgrade. Given their track record vs. Palm's for Rom updates- I'm putting more faith in Imate.

This gives me a no-compromise PDA solution, with a simplified phone setup.

Way to go Palm! I can't believe I'm switching camps. If you get your act straight for the next Treo, I might come back, but given your past, I'm not betting on it at this point. I've been compromising with your platform for far too long....

P1 says a LOT of things gfunk. Yeah, they are still working on those wi-fi drivers for the Treo 600, too. Woo. Maybe after they knock that out, they can start working on them for the Treo 650, hell the Treo 900 will be out be then.

They seem to have a lot of "fixes" on their table right now...I wouldn't be holding my breath.

    Ardint...

Just a curious, humorous thought I had about your post...

How do you see the display on the headset if it on on your head?

What is the difference in having the phone out and having to look at it, compared to always needing to have the headset out and to look at it?

I know your answers, it was just a funny image you gave to me.

I have the 660. it hooks to a neclace that came with it, that i wear around my neck... much easier to glance at than the pda2k.
Ever wonder if those FreeIPOD / FreeMiniMac scam sites work? Well, I found out Have a look at the results:

Let's not also forget the drivers for their Bluetooth card!

Honestly, I can't believe I put up which so much nonsense from Palm. Imate REGULARLY updates its Roms, and the releases are all over HoFo, so I don't have to worry about being a member at clubImate.

I'll miss the simple elegance of my Treo. But I think I'll more than make up for it in productivity.

6 weeks after getting my pda2k, I am still not looking back. As far as bluetooth goes if you get the sony ericson's you have very little problems. My hbh-300 works almost flawlessly, I just have to reboot once in a while (every day or so).

That is GREAT to hear about the Sony Headsets and the Pda2K!

Also, how does the phone feel to the ear? And can I use the device without a stylus when the keyboard is out?

Neither of those are dealbreakers with me. As long as the 660 can display caller ID info and I can use VoiceCommand to dial out, I think I'm set. But I'd still like to know what I'm getting into.
