    Hello,

Which would you get and why - the treo 650 or the PPC6601 and why?

I'm more familiar with the palm OS than the Windows mobile. I know in palm if I click on search and put in a persons name, it will automatically search my e-mail as well as my contacts and for that matter the entire palm device. Does Windows Mobile work the same way?

    On the PPC6601 -
Can I pull up an on screen keyboard to type with using the stylus?

I heard the next version for mobile will be 2005. Does anyone know about the upgradeability of these phones for 2005?

Can you assign mp3's or other sounds for custom ringers?

Is there a way of making the battery status always visible?

Do any settings/ data get lost when the battery completely dies?

    Thanks

Your message is very confusing. Can't tell if you are asking about the PPC6601 or the Treo 650. In either case, most, if not all, of your questions have already been answered on this site and at horwardsforums. A quick search will answer each of your questions in detail.

Most of my questions are about the PPC6601.

    I did some searching.

SO far people say the reception is good.

    The display is bright enough.

From what I read, you have to buy an additional program such as voice command to dial by voice.

very unlikely you will get OS upgrade. However you will get patches and minor updates.

yes. but for mp3 an exotic sound files, you will need a 3rd party apps. (it usually a standard features in high end profile manager apps)

yes, tons of thrid party apps that can move around various indicators and stick it on title bar.

Do any settings/ data get lost when the battery completely dies?
whatever you don't store in flash ROM or external card will be lost. (most people has back up utility in their SD card for such thing.
