So, the new LG flagship has 'friends'! This is their term for accessories.

So far, it's a camera add-on and a better sound module.
LG's G5 is a radical reinvention of the flagship Android smartphone | The Verge

I'm not clear if these friends will be LG only products or whether 3rd parties will be able to offer them.

    So...

    1. A Cyanogenmod port
    2. A plug in hardware keyboard
    3. LuneOS

    ...and we're good to go?

Our history really goes by spiral.

Welcome again, Springboard modules! (if anyone still remember PalmOS times)

A new springboard module form factor will also be announced, that attaches to the Visor in a manner similarly to the slipper that is now required for the Edge to use existing Springboards. Look for products from Good and Blocks (EyeModule).

These cats are why LG's G5 Friends modules are doomed | The Verge

Look at it this way: If this succeeds, it might encourage others to add to their slabs - with plug in keyboards! Oh, I just reread Shuswap's comment: A gesture area with a keyboard underneath. Of course, such a thing would be very webOS specific and would probably have to come from this community (and would LG allow us to basically turn their flagship into a LuneOS phone?)

If it fails, well hopefully a keyboard will have been made and there will be a flagship phone with keyboard available - probably at a decent price. (that's still a lot of 'ifs')

    PIC.. where are you?

A developer conference is in San Francisco on the 15th.
