New HP Omni tablet has the same logo as my Pre3... if only it had the same OS

I think the name "slate" on the bottom suggests win 8

also, maybe Omni means something, like maybe it's flexible from an OS standpoint like the Samsung Ativ Q? (I think)

Nope, the Slate reference isn't exclusive to the windows line anymore. Look here Slate 7 Tablet | HP® Official Site
The Omni reference can mean everything and nothing. It's probably derived from the Omni All-in-One line. It has been first used for the entry level AIO devices (Compaq & HP Omni) and then for all the non touch AIO (The Omni 27 for instance). I highly doubt it refers here to the OS choice flexibility

The HP Slate 7 runs Android. So that doesn't suggest anything.

Also, HP doesn't want Windows RT and this form factor seems way to slim (without any vents) to accomodate the Pro version. The FCC document explicitly states that it's gonna be a tablet, not a convertible.

Latest rumors were that HP has a fanless Windows 8 tab in prep. If I rememb well, Intel already demoed a fanless Atom tablet. Intel teases Haswell chips in fanless tablets by the end of the year | News | TechRadar

Is this to say nobody was impressed with it?

If it is an ARM based system, don't expect to ever see a non-Windows OS on it... M$ apparently has some death grip on the bootloader.... (Pathetic. Reason I won't buy any of the Nokia devices...)

EDIT: Just looked at the article, looks like it is an atom system!
    Did you know:

webOS ran on a Treo 800 during initial development.
