iOS 5 does not - except for Yahoo email...there are a couple clients with basic implementation on Android, but I've used neither. Profimail on Symbian (yes, Symbian) has a very good IMAP IDLE implementation (low overhead/battery drain), but that likely doesn't help much.

Looks like "pocket outlook" has had an IMAP IDLE extension for some time:
    imap idle | WMPoweruser

    This might also help: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IMAP_IDLE

Pocket Outlook = Windows Mobile 6.5 and earlier.

It's my understanding that WP7 doesn't, but I don't know for sure about Mango.

It's absurd that iOS doesn't support it...I suppose Mango not supporting it might encourage more MS Exchange users? The original Pocket Outlook extension came out of XDA so maybe they'll fix Mango too.

That's a great point, but since I'm a WebOS user - I thought I'd ask the community to see what kind of responses I'd get from people who may have moved over from here for some insight. My question didn't really reflect that, but it was what I was thinking

Let me retry. Anybody move to another OS who uses non-major IMAP email accounts and been happy with the support on the other side?
