yeah, and the Verizon/Apple iPhone 4 announcement Q&A stated that Verizon is non-exclusive CDMA contract.
    I see pandas.

If the iPhone does come to Sprint, it won't be until June at the earliest, but likely next year.

No PalmPad on Sprint? I feel that I might soon rest my case...

Oh and 10 dollars added onto every smartphone bill? Good move... like playing chess while blind without opposable thumbs.

On one hand, you want to get a tablet with a separate data plan to increase your bill significantly each month (data you're already paying for with your "unlimited" phone bill, mind you)....

On the other hand, you bemoan a new surcharge added onto smartphone bills....

I don't think Sprint can do right by you, sir.

Adding a 10 dollar charge and getting nothing new in return is hardly the same thing as paying for a tablet to get access to the internet and other services.

Sprint needs to break the exclusive Palm/Sprint tie IMO. It has not worked for them.

But with that $10 upcharge, they will need to have more convincing hardware because now people may start considering other carriers. The Evo and Epic are older now by technology standards, so that 2/7 announcement better be good! Also the "premium" 3G better stay unlimited. I'm hoping that's what that means.
HP has officially ruined it's own platform and kicked webOS loyalists and early TouchPad adopters to the curb. You think after you drop it like a hot potato and mention it made no money and is costing you money, anyone else wants it??? Way to go HP!!

And some people are fools to keep believing their hype. HP has shown they will throw webOS under the bus and people are still having faith in them??? News flash: if it's own company won't stand behind it, it's finished!

... Would be interesting if the 10 dollar charge = unlimited and sans the charge is 3gb or something.

Looks like it's not even an option to not pay the charge. But like other carriers, they could have tiers eventually, you never know. If they offered the 3GB without the charge, that'd be more generous than AT&T. And make those 150(V) and 200MB(A) $15 plans look even more piddling than they already are. Because when added up, you're getting 3GB at the price both AT&T and Verizon charge for those crappy plans.

Your yearly upgrades may be gone now too, it appears. Sounds like you get only $75 off if you upgrade early and aren't gold? 22 months for the full upgrade.

Ok pogeypre you're a visionary, lol! Sprint seems to be turning into other carriers. Sprint as we knew it is dead!

Sprint Premier Gold customers receive all the current benefits of Premier, including annual upgrades on 1 line per qualifying plan (or 10+ years service). All other lines on a Premier account currently are upgrade eligible every 22 months under Sprint's New for You Program.
To be Sprint Premier Gold, customers must have at least 6 months tenure and meet the following qualifications:
Individual plans with a 3 month average MRC of at least $89.99 or
Shared plans with a 3 month average MRC of at least $169.99 or
Tenure of 10+ years with Sprint Wireless
    Good standing
    Awesome.... freaking Sprint.

Wait, i dont' see whats different there?

Oh i see ..Gold gets the full discount? I have a 10 year standing with Sprint so i think i'm fine anyway.

That sucks though cause my gf just became a premiere member.
  13.    #133
Right now it's any shared unlimted plan. The 169.99 MRC is new for shared plans, used to be 129.99. Single users used to be 69.99.

I think their Feb 7th deal will be a new first.... the first of the big 4 providers to go under. lol.

People predict the end of Sprint everytime they change their pricing scheme....yet they have only improved their status.

So they are doing something right.

Remember when EVERYONE was claiming they were going to leave sprint when Sero changed?

I've been with sprint a long time for my age (almost 27) and honestly, their prices and perks are more competitive than basically everyone else.

I have great service and don't plan on changing anytime soon. If you are keeping sprint just cause they are cheap and you have terrible service, i question your reasons for staying on them anyway.

I actually just switched to T-Mobile...

500 minutes with free nights and weekends: $39.99
    Unlimited data:$29.99

    I'm pretty satisfied with that

It's the fact that you have to add 10 bucks and not get anything in return. (Premium Data... bah). Then if you want to be a Premier Customer, you have to spend 169.99 or more. This means that you will be likely purchasing more minutes than you need just to get yearly upgrades.

It is funny to place a perk like yearly upgrades in the hands of those who talk the most.... lol. People who get yearly upgrades use their phones for data, not for talking.

Oh well, it is definitely their perview. They can decide who they want to value, and who they do not. It just seems odd to value huge families or people who talk too much on their phones.

Another way to look at it...

The company I worked for several years back was hurting for money. They cut back on employee pay/benefits/bonuses/paid holidays etc. They lost all their good people to other employment opportunities because they placed less value on retaining good people and more value on cutting benefits as a cost saving measure.

Putting cuts on your bread and butter customers is bad business.

Now, if on February 7th Sprint announces some better way forward and presents a compelling case for customers not to leave, they be avert such an exodus.

I don't think you get "nothing in return". Their data is premium in that it's truly unlimited and still comes with plenty of add-ons other carriers charge for (e.g. texting, GPS). They're raising their prices likely because they have to. They just sold three million EVOs in six months, so they have WAAAAY more heavy data users than they had before (Android is a data-intensive OS with all of the widgets and such). If the prices don't go up, tiered pricing comes in. I'd rather have the unlimited data.

But as I said elsewhere...Sprint shouldn't pose this as a surcharge. Just raise the plan prices by $5 or $10 across the board.

The nothing in return is that they are not expanding their offering from before. Just tacking on a surcharge of 10 bucks. They have changed their prices in the past by changing the overall plans.

Very rarely do you see a overt price increase without at least adding something new to the mix, ie 4G.

Unlimited data on Sprint is not unlimited. There's a 5 gig soft cap. With the current $10 "4G tax", you actually get unlimited data. The same will be true of the this new fee as well. It still sucks but you still get something.
