When you get booted out of an app, I believe that can be considered crashing, even if the phone doesn't reboot.

As for the 3rd gen. iPhone, I DO think 32GB and HD would be a biggie. But I agree with most others that anything else, probably not.

I've seen that keyboard rumor. I'll be absolutely floored if that one comes true!!
HP has officially ruined it's own platform and kicked webOS loyalists and early TouchPad adopters to the curb. You think after you drop it like a hot potato and mention it made no money and is costing you money, anyone else wants it??? Way to go HP!!

And some people are fools to keep believing their hype. HP has shown they will throw webOS under the bus and people are still having faith in them??? News flash: if it's own company won't stand behind it, it's finished!

3.0 will the everything the Pre is (multitasking) plus some extra surprises. It already sold billions of units, has millions of developer support. A better question is how can the 3.0 NOT utterly and totally annihilate the Pre?
    Billions of units???

    Uh, I don't think so...

LOL! I don't know much about the iPhone, but I do know this - they are turned on and off so much they're mistaken for porn stars.

HD on a 3.5" screen? Is that even necessary? Can the human eye resolve that resolution at that screen size even if it's only a foot away? Would think there would also be some issue be it power draw or price.
Pixi: Sold. Pre: Passed off to another rep. Touchpad: Just a toy until Cloud syncing arrives, and a better doc editor.

Any phone that claims to be HD is saying High Density, not High Definition. HD on that screen would be amazingly crisp, but the processing power, not to mention the cost of a pixel density that great.

A keyboard that can be typed on by a person with fingernails. True multitasking and Sprint like packages

Faster processor, flash support out of the box, multi-tasking, longer battery life, multiple colors, solid construction, not dependent on iTunes, support for Divx/xvid, Pre webOS emulation LOL

Is this really a thread asking if the next iphone could be a Pre killer?

    This is just not true.
I got an iPhone on day one and then later got an unlocked 3G.
Both the 1st gen and 2nd gen phones did lock up / crash and had to be reset.

Granted it wasn't very often, but to say 'The iPhone does not crash' is just not accurate..

The iPhone overall does a good job of maintaining its stability. But individual apps do crash, usually due to lack of memory. Safari is the most common in my experience.

The new hardware Apple announces will surely have 2-3x the ram of the current 3g model and minimize this issue. But for users of current and past generation models the issue will persist.

Just like Mac's don't freeze or crash? PLEASE.

My MacBook Pro freezes everytime I quit Safari after using it for a bit (don't tell me to get Firefox I am just using Safari as an example).

On my PC's with Vista, sure explorer crashes every now and then but way less than my Mac.

Like the saying goes, "Never say never." I always say my Powerbook hardly freezes which is very true for me. A stable Pre is a must.

for me personally, I've pretty much settled on the Pre unless the iphone comes out with a slide out keyboard or dedicated buttons for games. iPhone is really advanced in games as far as cell phones go and theres rumors their dedicating even more time to that so if they have a way for actual input instead of on screen buttons for games, I'm most likely getting it.

I would love it, if Palm would announce a 1000 GB of free virtual cloud storage for every Pre user. A few days later, Apple announces 32 GB, which would seem infinitely lame.
