Even more reason to launch this ahead of the new iPhones with a good price point.

Actually there is multi tasking on a jailbreak app.

I also agree they should release as soon as they can. That 32 gig phone will grab some people.

HEre is the app I was talking about. Not true multi tasking like the Pre but what the heck we take what we can get.

    Yes... two differences....

And I'd say "normal" people looking at a pre vs. an iphone will not even understand or even use 32 gb... unless they are doing music, in which case they should get the iphone.

actually most people don't jailbreak and apple even put forth in its sdk not to do so.

It still comes back to carrier, cost of AT&T, no AT&T 3G coverage in my area except for 30mi away, etc. On the other hand Sprint 3G is all around me and an opportunity to save a lot of money per year by going with Sprint.

So that's 3 things. Cost, network, phone. Sprint wins two of those right now. I'll concede the iphone is the better phone as it probably should be given the time on market. But the thing is...the difference between old palm and the iphone was huge. I switched to the iphone. The difference between the iphone and the Pre is not so huge and not enough to continue justifying getting raped by AT&T which is a bad network.

You know something, because of the lack of updates from Sprint & Palm, I suddenly find myself rooting for competition from Apple. Go Apple... (Palm, are you reading this?)

It is not sudden... you have been "rooting" for someone other than palm since you started on this forum.

At this point, palm definitely does not read your posts... lol

As mentioned in another post, the pre is not released so no updates. lol

Anyone who claims to know anything right now about the next iPhone is just guessing. It's way too early still for a real leak.

That being said, if all Apple has to offer in a new high-end version is a 32GB device with camera improvements, that's a good thing for Palm.

Yep, the major thing that would be a blow to palm is new hardware and multitasking. But that isn't happening. A little storage bump and a new (still useless) camera isn't a big deal.

On the other hand, its amazing how Apple will sell such a minor upgrade to be "high end" and all that. I expect a few cosmetic changes too as it doesn't take much to excite the masses.

This really doesn't do much in my eyes really.

Memory was already something the iPhone had over the Pre. Just giving it more isn't going to really change that. People that are going to the iPhone for big storage are STILL going to go for them for big storage.

If this is the only hardware changes, this shouldn't bother Palm, as it doesn't put Apple in any better position than it already is.

I agree I have an 8 gig and it is full I just dont see a need for a 32 gig phone but some people do. i also think the Pre is great just like the iphone is for the market. Makes everyone on there toes. Keep coming out with better phones.

32GB ain't no "little" storage bump IMO. "Normal" people with 30GB-120GB iPods are still common. A 32GB iPhone is just what those types of people have been waiting for. I've even seen people wishing for 64GB.
HP has officially ruined it's own platform and kicked webOS loyalists and early TouchPad adopters to the curb. You think after you drop it like a hot potato and mention it made no money and is costing you money, anyone else wants it??? Way to go HP!!

And some people are fools to keep believing their hype. HP has shown they will throw webOS under the bus and people are still having faith in them??? News flash: if it's own company won't stand behind it, it's finished!

Yup I think a lot of people will jump at this extra storage.

Palm just needs to get a kick a$$ ad campaign and make it look cool, and not compare with the other devices.

You are exactly right. Due to a time capsule problem, I was on line w/Apple Tech Support. I asked him why I should get an iPhone vs a Palm Pre. He said Apps.

When I mentioned the new iPhone coming out this summer, he stopped me right there & said, "It is rumor only. We have no idea if there will be a new phone or not."

They ordered the cameras for the phone so I think you will see one if not two new iphones this summer.
    who knows?
