I have had a palm for years....

still rockin' my treo 700wx now...

I am about to upgrade and narrowed it down to

    the Treo Pro

but then after seeing the Blackberry Storm (cheaper monthly plan)

and all the new features...can anyone convince my why not to leave Palm for the new BB storm>

I really , really don't want to ....but it seems all signs point to yes ...

    Storm

    - bigger screen
    - now touchscreen
    - not WMobile
    - Cheaper(phone/monthly) for verizon
    - Speed
    - Memory
    - Threaded SMS
    - Wifi

    Treo Pro ??????

    How does it previal

    - the only thing I could find is that it only 32gb exp. card instead of 16

You say you can get a cheaper talk plan with the BB? That's odd.
    What about data?
Are you saying the BB data plan is cheaper?

I just don't get why people try to compare phones with qwerty keyboards vs. phones without. Apples and oranges.

I have tried to type on my friends' iPhones and I could never type as fast or as accurate as I do on my Treos. My friends can't even get the hang of the onscreen keyboards, and a few just don't use their devices for things like texting because of the frustration.

As a humorous aside, my friend yesterday said he wanted to get a stylus/pen combo for his iPhone. He was very disappointed (as he grabbed a capped pen and kept tapping at the screen) when I pointed out that it wouldn't work.

As a poster above noted, it's apples and oranges. Lots of people dislike the touch screen keyboards (i.e., Iphone, HTC Diamond) and feel that they simply aren't as accurate as hard qwerty keyboards. Others also like the one-handed friendly form factor of the Treo design.

The Treo Pro is intended to be an enterprise device, with presumably less emphasis on multimedia, etc. The RIM competitor to the Treo Pro is supposed to be the Bold.

You got 30 days right? Try out both, for me I can't deal with the touchscreen keyboard, and if the interface is slow forget it. It sounds like to me your already set on a storm, so try it you don't like it get the pro. For me no soft keyboard it drives me nuts, even if it did vib the phone everytime you touch a key its still not the same.

If a BB tariff is cheaper than a Treo tariff, you certainly aren't in the UK.

Voda wanted to charge me an extra GBP5 a month for the BB Bold over the Pro for BB Internet Service, and I didn't even want push email. But without it the default browser wouldn't work.

I'm very happy with the decision I made to return the Bold and take a Pro (that's apart from the fact that a Bold was GBP150 more upfront).

I personally am not too fond of the BB OS, it seems to be too restrictive and not as many third party applications for it. The web browser on it has come a long way but still not as easy as the WM devices.

The BBs are the best for push E-Mail and IMHO that is where their advantage ends.

I agree with New2this, use the 30 day trial and then decide.

BTW, you would be switching to GSM with the Treo Pro, is the GSM coverage adequate where you will be using the phone? If it is not then getting the TP would be a mistake.

    Just my 2 cents.

    qwerty touchscreen - forget it.

why isn't palm ahead of curve?
Why can't others give me what I want that the treo gives me.

Is this really a thread to help you choose the Pro? It sounds like you want the Storm.

I'm also curious how you're getting a cheaper plan with the BB than the Pro. The only thing I can think is that you're not getting data and if that's the case, why go with either.

I live right outside NYC ..5mins outside Holland Tunnell...

Around here the only carrier that works well is Verizon..

Verizon Treo data 40 bux a month

    BB data 29 a month

    treo pro 500+ us dollars

    Storm 300 us dollars...

I am set on the storm ., and blackberry just launched a new line of software products....

BB operating system gotta be better than the years of WM ---

My inbox on 5 different palms have all read 99999 at one time...I have done all the updates..

basically I am going to try out this touch qwerty.....

if it works ., I am gone for good...

if its a hassle....I ll be back to the PRO.....

I wish the PRO came with more memory, and better camera(flash too),
speaking of flash(youtube videos would help) .....

I have WM6 on my treo 700wx and I want to use this as my mp3 player as well....

So right now ....Storm it is ...and Ill let you know how it works out....

No one gave me a good arguement except for the old Qwerty look., in which many people feel the Pro went to crammed with.....esp. when I am 6ft5in with big fingers....

any other reasons .., please type.....

I am getting myself as a xmas present so I have some time...

    thx all

I don't understand how you can talk about getting a Treo Pro if that is the case. You are aware that Treo Pro is GSM only and favoring At&T's 3G bands, right?

Yes. I don't think I have ever went to a forum supporting device X and asked them why I shouldn't buy device Y. Likely that few if any on forum X have ever used device Y, and all views from forum X will be biased toward device X.

To the OP, a better approach would be to go to a Blackberry forum and find out if you can do all the things with that operating system that you can do with your current operating system. You could also find out what strengths and weaknesses the device has.

The last thing I will say is that you better try out one of these touch screen keyboards before you give up the physical keyboard of Palm. You might just be severely disappointed.

Not sure why the memory's an issue; the Storm only has 1Gb and the Pro already comes with that on its microSD (though I soon swapped that for an 8Gb).
