Due to a damaged treo which I can't get charged (cable won't stay in place despite trying a new cable)...

I think I'm going to give the new iPhone a try in July when it comes out rather than get a new treo. As much as I've loved this phone, I'm pulled to the iPhone with apple's redo of dotmac to mobile me connection where it automatically and wirelessly syncs home computer, iPhone, mobileme and work pc computer any time any of them change, even with multiple phones.

I know I'm probably giving up some functionality and cool features, but nothing I can't live without and though I love Windows mobile, I think I'm going to simplify my mobile computing/pda'ing needs and end up saving time in the long run.

I will definitely miss the tech support and great ideas here - thanks for the good run. I wouldn't have gotten half of what I did out of this phone without the great tips and help on this forum.

I'm probably going to switch to the iphone in july as well. here's my 2 cents why.

Way better screen than any treo
    Internet browser that works
    awesome media player
Built in gps with many location based services
many many 3rd party apps that will and are filling the software needs
can add copy and paste by jailbreaking
Office support is in the 3g and I'm sure there will be many more 3rd party apps
the whole mobile industry is buzzed around the iphone and they developing many many things for the iphone.
16gb of memory....no need for expansion card
thin...much thinner and lighter than my treo
    smart...proximity sensors and accelerometers..
    sexy
will work with my existing sherweb exchange account account or I can switch to mobileme and get 20gb of online storage
will work with my evernote and sugarsync
ewallet and pocket informant are developing iphone apps
did I say huge multi-touch screen and built in gps?

That's why I'm jumping the WM ship. No WM device can handle music like the iphone, and no WM device has the hype, buzz, and people wanting to develop for it like the iphone. And when the app store goes live, the iphone will do everything I want.

Have fun littelwaywelt. I can't wait.

One problem, you can't jailbreak the new one for some time, and I need copy and paste NOW.

But what app adds copy and paste to the old one after you jailbreak it? I'd like to know that one.
HP has officially ruined it's own platform and kicked webOS loyalists and early TouchPad adopters to the curb. You think after you drop it like a hot potato and mention it made no money and is costing you money, anyone else wants it??? Way to go HP!!

And some people are fools to keep believing their hype. HP has shown they will throw webOS under the bus and people are still having faith in them??? News flash: if it's own company won't stand behind it, it's finished!

i guess if you don't need copy and paste "NOW" then you should be ok.

Definitely aware of those drawbacks and some other big ones like category support and I know that some will be a major hassle. There are several common operations that require far fewer keystrokes/button inputs on the treo and I'll miss those, I'm sure. You can view office docs now, and dataviz will be offering a docs to go version for iPhone. Even Pocket Informant is coming out for iPhone. The screen is definitely better on the iPhone. With 16gb of internal memory, I can live without an SD card slot. I never used bluetooth on the treo.

The overwhelming and overriding positive feature for me will be the auto sycing between home computer, work, yahoo, dotmac/mobile me and two iPhones. For the first time, I hope, my wife and I will have reliable schedules and autoupdating like those that have exchange 03+. Active sync has always been a pia and it doesn't sync with Entourage 08, so the Treo lost major utility for me. I would have stayed with Treo, but the category issue doesn't look like it will be solved by MissingSync anytime in the near future.

    Thanks!

Yes this is Treocentral and I currently own a Treo so I guess that allows me to talk to other treo owners about wanting to switch to something else, doesn't it?

I guess I didn't read the fine print about icopy before I spoke. It adds copy and paste functions to safari, but not the whole iPhone system... read more here...

As far as category support and task syncing and such, WebIS, maker of Pocket Informant is developing PI for the iPhone. And while he didn't say much of anything, he did say he was working with Apple and while some of the features that many heavy PIM users want may not be available with the first 2.0 release, he felt that future 2.x releases would add new features and syncing capabilities.

There are already a bunch of task applications (with syncing) already confirmed as coming soon to the app store. Omnifocus won an award at the WWDC for this exact type of app.

    Thanks for the link!

Well it's better than nothing, but I really don't know why Apple can't just include C&P to begin with! They have to know people would need to use this function!
