    Hi,
    I've spent a decent amount of time searching the net for this.
    Can't find and answer yet, so figured I'd start a thread about this
    Not sure where, but ppl here are quite familiar using treo 650 et al.

    Scenario
    Had 2 treo 650 (me and ms)
    Got 2 iphones, terribly missing PIM software todo, memo, password manager etc (will have to wait for that)
    Want to transfer contacts to new phone
    I have a lot of rich info there, especially custom categories
    Able to get it to work, but not cleanly (not showing categories etc)

    I know itunes can sync contacts from outlook, windows address book and yahoo mail

    So I tried these combos
    export from palm ->yahoo->iphone
    outlook ->iphone

    Its not showing the categories in iphone or other stuff I have there

    I've simplified what I've done, csv files, vcf files, editing headers, etc

    Anyone else have similar problems?

    Thanks in advance,

    Gideon

    i exported/imported my outlook contact file by creating a windows .csv file and it worked perfectly. i followed these directions:

    Click File, Import and Export, Export to a file, Comma Separated (Windows), select Contacts, choose path to copy to... This file can then be e-mail to yourself and saved on your Home PC.

    best success

    Ran into the issues with my SO's iPhone. She jumped the gun w/o doing research and now she's stuck with no calendaring solution, a terrible contacts solution and no tasks/memo's. Everything is going to be a hack for her until Apple, or someone else, releases a better solution. Oddly, I'm the Mac guy of the house and I'm switching from a Treo to a Blackberry. Unless you are already using Outlook, the iPhone isn't going to sync too well on Windows. Sure looks pretty, though.

    SHHHHH! No...you can't be a Mac guy and not use a iPhone!

    You aren't conforming! No PowerMac G7 with Version XII NuBus for you!

    You may export every address from Palm to a folder, via vCard - with
    one condition that I figured out. Every contact MUST have a name
    attached to it. My business contacts (aka Domino's and Pizza Hut) that
    had no name shut the process down!

    Here's what you can do, more or less - to export from Palm Desktop and
    import into Mac's Address Book:

    First step, smile. Create folder for export on desktop. Open Palm
    Desktop. Sort all contacts by name so that all contacts that have no
    name are sorted to top or bottom. Click the top contact, shift-click
    the bottom contact and simply drag it all out onto the export folder
    you created on the desktop!

    All of these can easily be dragged from the export folder into the Address Book.
