    Check this out:

Damn, is Palm ever going to get this thing out the door?

At this rate I may as well go back to a Visor Edge, then wait for Handspring to release a color model.

I could publish a small novel but I have been severly disappointed in the latest rash of handhelds being released. To the point of almost defecting to the iPAQ and blowing way too much money on a pretty handheld... I could agree more when I see articles saying that Palm and Handspring are as slow as molases getting things out the door.

Also, if the companies got together (which I know would never happen) could you imagine the possibilities?

    a 320x320 screen
    ultra thin size
    Springboard backpack
    MMC expansion
    USB sync
16 MB (ok, no one has this... but this would be a dream)
33 or more processor (possibly ARM)
    wireless built-in

I am sure there is a lot I am leaving out... but why isn't this possible for a handheld maker to produce, no matter the price. It is arrived, I guarantee you I would be on a waiting-list and never look back at the PPC iPaq

The waiting is always the hardest part, but this is getting rediculous. It's clear that Palm wasn't even remotely ready to ship the M505. My guess is they were around 90 days to RTM. Handspring's release of the Edge caused Palm's marketing dept. to hit the panic button!

But the cherry on top of the cake was my discovery that the orders placed with Palm's online store will not take precedence over the retail channel. So basically my order, which was placed the first day Palm began taking orders on the M505, is worthless! Yeah, thanks for the warning guys!

Right now I don't even have a PDA. I returned my Edge to HS because of the widespread reports of defects. I don't think I can make it to the end of May w/o a PDA!

Foo, there is several conflicting posts today

PalmInfocenter shows that there is no certainty that the orders placed on the web won't take precedent.

However, I don't know how you will be able to wait till the end of May without a PDA - I couldn't. The real coup would be if Handspring were able to come out with a color Edge using the reflective screen of the M505 or the sidelight screen of the iPaq before the M505 then I'd jump ship in a heartbeat back to Handspring.

But if the screen were the same as a Prism, which I did own, then no I wouldn't go back to HS because of the lack of visability in sunlight.

My M505 is on order and it was placed on the 18th before the official launch - two months is to long but may still be worth the wait.

I'll stop worrying about the rumors and concentrate on which software I'll want to upgrade to color when the unti finally arrives.

    Timmins:

Here is a link to an English site that contains some of Larson's work. Gary Larson Cartoons He has done an excellent job of shutting down most of the web pages that are based in the US on showing his past work. He refers to the cartoons as his children and hence the reasons for "send my children home". They are his work and no one else's to capitalize on.

Although, many may argue that since they were published they might be considered public domain....I agree with Gary that he should be able to endorse or not any site etc. that illegally shows his work.

Go check out the toons if you want...you'll see how many people view him as brilliant and warped.

Keeping it off-topic...Calvin and Hobbes ranks right up there with The Far Side, AFAIC.

I used to read the comics, but then Calvin and Hobbes and The Far Side stopped being run so I slowly stopped reading (and laughing ). Fox Trot is about the only one I like now.

Hmm...Gary Larson/Far Side + Availability of the M505. Yeah, I see the connection. Ok, thanks guys for ruining my damn thread!

Maybe next time when I post a topic about Springboard modules, we can all talk about our favorite use for marshmallows!

Why, Smores of course! Any other use of marshmallows is a waste of precious materials that could be used to make smores!

Hot Chocolate is the best way to use marshmallows!! Let's hear it for hot chocolate!!

Speaking of chocolate ...my favorite coffee is mocha java.
Coffee...couldn't made it through medical school without it.

Coffee was necessary to make it through law school too.

I personally try and combine my coffee and chocolate addictions by frequently purchasing mochas at Starbucks. I haven't tried it, but I imagine marshmellows would do well in the drink.

Pay attention, timmins. The topic is Ducks.

I personally wish they would stop that incesant quacking. Nobody cares! I mean, really, when's the last time anyone attributed a cogent thought to a duck? I hear your points about Daffy and Donald being misunderstood geniuses, but I think that's a little far-fetched. I'm more inclined to call them ducks.

I believe the topic was actually "goose", as in the big fat goose egg that this thread laid regarding the original topic. Or the goose egg that Foo is going to lay when he reads this stuff. Or as in, "what's good for the goose is good for the gander", which is why I suppose this thread went awry in the first place.

Speaking of geese laying eggs. I saw a goose nesting right in the middle if a shopping mall parking lot yesterday. She had it set up right on an island with some wood shavings that were around a tree, before she thought they were good nesting material. The gander was waddling around the lot perimeter standing guard. This is the second year in a row that this couple has set up house in this parking lot. And they, oddly enough, were in the same spot, on the same parking island. I guess she likes to shop when in town.

I think Daffy can kick Donald's tail! I mean you can hardly understand what Donald's saing most of the time, although Daffy has a spitting problem when he talks...

    Anyway...what were we talking about?

Hey Foo just trying to distract you... makes time and THE WAIT (for you know what to be delivered) go by faster.

    ...what were we talking about?

Ducks...goose...I mean geese...what's the plural of moose? mooses?
