What is the big deal about Clie PEG-N700C pictures? There are a bazillion on Sony's website...and a good portion of the navigation is in English or picture-based:

Simply this, a company's site advertizing their own products are going to present pictures of a product at optimum (if not doctored) picture quality.

When there are web-sites from customers not connected to the company, then one can get pictures and news that are unbias and honest.

I prefer optimum picture quality. As for your suspicion of "doctored" pictures, you have to be kidding. Wanting an independent review is one thing, but I cannot imagine that Sony would use sham pictures or phony information. Ridiculous.

When I said "doctored" pictures, I meant the screen display. Yes, I do believe that most of the screen displays on the pictures that Handspring, Palm, and Sony put on their website are not the real dislays, therefore "doctored".

Come on, go look at the quality of the screen display on the Prism on the Handspring site, the Palm m505, and the Clie. You think that the screen really look like that? Where are the grid lines? Are the screens really that bright, even at different angles? The Prism and the m505 have 160x160 resolution, the pictures of the Prism and m505 screen sure don't looked 160x160. You can not tell me that you actually believe that those pictures/screen displays have not been "doctored".

Yes, some pictures must be "doctored".
Although its impossible to see the Palm's screen resolution on this small images, but the screen can not be as bright in reality.
Especially on Palm.com the m505 screen could not be as bright at this viewing angle.

But on the other hand "un-doctored" photographs of color screens don't look natural at all. On unmodified photos the screen often looks too dim and almost unreadable.

    Check-out here:

for more nice screen pictures comparing the 160x160 vs. high res. 320x320. You can really tell the difference. The thing that I like about the Clie is NO GRID-LINE!! The color is pretty nice too.

Really interesting. When the Clie emulates the 160x160 screen only via pixel doubling, it could be as fast as a Prism, couldn't it? (For our speed enthusiasts ).

I only hope that Palm and Handspring will use the same screen API in coming Handhelds as Sony. Otherwise we will have a "screen resolution chaos".

Have you heard the famous story when Sony once sold a tape recorder that was supposed to be "pocket sized"? However, it was too big to fit in a shirt pocket. What was their solution? ...The president of Sony special ordered shirts with larger pockets.
