Just wondered how many of you ever used (or still use) a Newton and what your thoughts are of them.

I have fond memories of my newts I had the MP,120 and still in the back of my car trunk the MP. The newton was I think the pioneer of what we have today. It was bulky, but it was a computer in the palm of your hand and if it wasn't for apple killing it I'd still be using it. In fact I did not switch over to palm device until Handspring came out with the visor deluxe. Before the deluxe I despised palm for taking over the pda market and somewhat helping apple to decide to kill the newton.

But soon I was in love with my VDX and then the Prism came out and it was so long VDX hello color!!!!

Man I think am going to go and get my MP from the trunk......

I never had one, but I always thought (and still do) that they were amazing computers.

I'm really curious as to what Jobs is thinking about doing with the Newton Technology. Apple killed the Newton, but never sold off the technology, so one has to assume that it will come back again, in some form.

The most impressive use of a newton was a few years ago when I was buying a new house. The inspector came out with a digital camera and a newton. Inspected the entire house, then hooked up this printer to the newton, which then printed out a complete inspection, photos and all, that he was able to leave behind.

I also just say someone at the bookstore yesterday still using an eMate...I had forgotten all about those things...

I wondered if something like this would come up. I find the same thing to be true, and figured that given how loyal the Mac user breed is :-) that others would think so as well.
The next generation of Apple PDAs should be nice, especially if some of the designs at www.applele.com come true...as well as some of the cool Mac designs. They have some cool prototypes there.

The two killing factors of the netwon in my mind are it's size and its price, other than that, it would have been great for the segment of the market that the PPC curently ocupies, i think.

I agree after reading this thread I went and got my MP130 out and started playing with it. It is huge compared to handheld standards today!!! Although I'm not sure I agree on price I don't remember how much I spent on it but I thought it was pretty much what we're spending these days. Maybe someone can refresh my memory as to what they use to got for. But anyway besides the fact that it is slower than my prism, it seems it was more powerful in the respect that it was like having a small mac in your hand.

It's weird I plugged it in after several years of never touching it and it reported that the backup memory was dead, but yet all my data was still there contacts, appointments all the programs and games I had.

When I read the April Fools post about a NewtonX springboard my eyes almost popped out of my head till I considered how feasible that would be and then the date.
