I have a business account with Cingular; 3 lines/unlimited data plan. Logged into my account and see that I'm eligable for an "upgrade". That would be $399.99 re-uping my 2 year contract. Logged in again as a "new" user; purchase phones, and get the SAME deal. Logged into Amazon and can get the SAME deal for 299.99
Tried talking to an account rep (my mistake) and after a half hour of combined being on hold and long silences, they couldn't give me an answer as to why someone cold off the street could buy the phone for the same price (on line). Boy, Cingular sure knows how to keep customers!

What do you mean? That's the way it works. Once you're eligible for an upgrade you get the price a new customer would get for a new 2 year contract. It works that way everywhere. If your not eligible for an upgrade it's alot more $$$$$$$$$.

EXCEPT, the same phone can be had at Amazon for $100 LESS with the same deal. Everytime I've added anything to a line they have restarted th 2 year contract start date. I don't see how they are enticing a business customer to stay with them when they are not offering anything I couldn't get without a multi-line, unlimited data, multi-year track record.

Amazon.com will be cheaper than Cingular 99% of the time. That is the nature of the beast. Try setting up with Cingular Premiere through the "Business" button on the Cingular website for better deals.

Maybe the OP just didn't understand how Cingular works.

I agree with Jlczl. Premiere customers get serious price breaks. Not regular consumers. Try Premiere.
HP has officially ruined it's own platform and kicked webOS loyalists and early TouchPad adopters to the curb. You think after you drop it like a hot potato and mention it made no money and is costing you money, anyone else wants it??? Way to go HP!!

And some people are fools to keep believing their hype. HP has shown they will throw webOS under the bus and people are still having faith in them??? News flash: if it's own company won't stand behind it, it's finished!

is there any place to buy all these PDA (8125, 8525) without data plan?? yeah..you don't get rebate and all..but why the hell they forcefully add the d/plan, like amazon, wirefly etc...???

Sure, buy the unlocked phones. The price is often the same as or a little more than what Cingular charges if you buy without a contract. There are various places online you can search for.

You can buy them at www.cingular.com or at a b&m cingular store without a data plan (you just don't get the rebate).

At Cingular, you can end up paying almost the same as the unlocked if you don't take them up on their plans and contracts. That's why I recommended buy unlocked. Although I do think the 8525 is one exception, the locked is still cheaper than the unlocked. But he's also in India. Cingular ships to India?

It isn't just Cingular, any cell phone carrier won't really match Amazon's price since they are an authorized reseller. Phones are always more expensive when you buy direct from the company over buying through a 3rd party site.

India? Didn't know that. I'm surfing the mobile site on my Blackjack.
