Any thoughts from anyone on the following 3 devices:

    Cavalier (new Dash):

    HTC P4350:

(I'm wondering if this will be on T-Mobile US since the Tytn doesn't seem too. Also, the dimensions are smaller the tytn, which is good. But I don't think the processor is as fast as the tytn and there's no 3G speeds.

    XDA Flame:

The Flame looks good. I am very happy with my 700wx, but whoever delivers me a 640x480 or 480x480 screen will have my business first.

I wish to grow out of the Treo form factor (3 years is a long time) but damn I want a star trek style phone with a big screen. Somebody get on the case!

The Flame is cool, but its not made by HTC. Its made by Quanta, for O2 Asia. Its pretty cool, and thinner than it looks, but a powerful device such as that really needs a HTC Universal-like keyboard.

There is always that FIC linux phone http://www.engadget.com/2006/11/07/f...rages-hacking/ it has the required resolution, but no keyboard :-( and you'd probably need a keyboard, then get this HTC http://www.htc.com/product/03-products-11.htm#1

Star Trek is a small flip phone, that's what I want. You recommand the universal which is the size of an aircraft carrier?

And that Linux phone is a freaking computer rendering.

There is already plenty of flip phones, just get one of those. Didnt you write you wanted a big screen? or maybe that was Tempest790.

Sure, it might be a rendering now, but doesnt engadget say that it's supposed to come on january?

I agree. I'm not sure where they are going with that device? (HTC P4350) What's the purpose beyond being thinner and keyboard sliding out from the other side? It seeems to be less of a device than the hermes/tytn/8525.

It is meant to be an entry level phone $$ that will run alongside the 8525 and other high end devices $$$$$.

exactly, similar to the Treo 680 vs. Treo 750 (besides the obvious OS difference).

Smartphones are breaking out of the mold of being for business only. Many consumers are getting them now, and its a market that holds a lot of potential. Just look at how well the Side Kick series has done - WM5 devices are much more powerful and have phenomenal multimedia capabilities.

Looks like a CDMA TyTN, cool!!
HP has officially ruined it's own platform and kicked webOS loyalists and early TouchPad adopters to the curb. You think after you drop it like a hot potato and mention it made no money and is costing you money, anyone else wants it??? Way to go HP!!

And some people are fools to keep believing their hype. HP has shown they will throw webOS under the bus and people are still having faith in them??? News flash: if it's own company won't stand behind it, it's finished!

If that is the case, what is wrong with the current 8125?

^^^^, plus it's got a 2 mp camera, BT 2.0, and it's newer. Kind of like this years 2nd tier model car having a few more extras than last years top tier car but still not as many as this year's top of the line car.

They're trying to keep their lineup fresh while still catering to different levels of customer demands.

Bluetooth 2.0 with EDR and EV-DO Rev A on a phone means that I can do high speed wireless tethering of my laptop on my commute and can upload files to work as fast as I download them.

There is currently no other device even rumored on the Sprint network that offers that combo. The closest you get is the Samsung M610 flip phone which has BT2.0 + Rev 0. The 700wx doesn't even have BT DUN out of the box.

Those are features that are keeping me sat still rather than rushing out and buying an updated Treo or M610.
