I think that's the achille's heel of this phone, the battery life. If it was any better, I may get tired of waiting for the 680 and kiss palm good bye.

other than the battery life, how does it compare to the treo 700 or 750 overall?

    Extended battery... that's nice?

You shell out $200 bucks for the phone and now have to shell out $40 bucks to have decent battery life? If Samsung acknowledges the original battery doesn't hold up to consumer standards, then they should replace/improve them without additional cost to the consumer.

With average use of the phone and occassional use of the email/web, would the original battery last 3-4 days without charging?

Samsungs extended battery for the BlackJack gives it a hunchback look, so you have to sacrifice the slender feel for more juice. Most of Samsungs batteries do that via i830, A900, etc.

I've charged my devices every night ever since I swiched to pda/phone devices. Some lasted me 1 1/4 days, some 1 1/2, some 1 3/4, some ALMOST lasted 2 days, but none lasted enough to where I wouldn't worry if I didn't charge nightly. Look at my sig and you'll see what devices I've had. So it is no different with my Blackjack, I charge every night and to boot I got an EXTRA battery at no extra cost!

SOOO do I get this phone or wait for the 750? what do you think?

both are 3G, windows mobile, same memory, 750 slightly faster processor. Blackjack is better res screen @ 320x240, with 750 at 240x240 but touchscreen.

blackjack comes with 2 batteries so thats not a problem.
what are the reasons to wait for a 750 - if any?

    3 words
    Cut and paste

I can't understand why they call this device a "smart phone"

you lost me - who'se copying who, if that's what you mean?

both seem like good phones, and the Koreans are w-a-y ahead in cellphone tech at the moment, so I trust their offerings to work.

no cut and paste capability on the Blackjack.
For example, you are unable to selectively edit an email and send along only the info you want instead of the entire message.
Also coming from Palm OS on a Treo 600, there is a lot of info that is contained in my notes section of a contact that is unable to be copied and pasted elswhere within the phone.
This may not mean much to others, but for me it is essential in a "Smart Phone" device, which is what my original 600 was

That is incorrect. You certainly CAN select what part of the e-mail you want to forward or reply to. Have you used a Blackjack?
If you need additional cut and paste options their is a 3rd party app that adds more function. I'll look it up and post it in a little bit.

Yes I picked one up last week.
I spent quite some time with Cingular support and Samsung support, both confirming that it was not possible.
If you know how please tell me.
The 3rd party app is not exactly what I'm looking for but if it works it'll be better than a non existent 750

    Thanks.
But how do you do it without a 3rd party app?

    Doing it as we speak:

    1. Select e-mail you want to forward or reply to.
    2. Click Reply for reply or Menu to Forward.
    3. New e-mail will populate and the cursor will be on a blank section to type your message.
    4. Scroll down to "Edit Message" (it is in a blue font, underlined). Select it.
    5. Original e-mail is shown and ready to be edited to your liking.
    6. Send.

I got it because it was available NOW and at a VERY good price. Is the 750 a more powerful device? Yes. Is it worth the price of 3 Blackjacks at the current price of importing a 750? ABSOLUTELY NOT! IMHO

Is it worth twice as much when it is released from Cingular? That is question only you can answer.

So far for me the Blackjack has fit the bill. I only miss the fact that there is no Word doc editing available yet, but since their is now a 3rd party app available for Excel doc editing I'm hoping something similar will be available for Word. As fas as a touchscreen, treo fans (including myself) have always touted it's one handed use and lack of need to touch the screen as a plus so I am used to not touching the screen. Personally I see it as absolute proof that one-handed use is a strength of the Blackjack.
