I recently dumped my 650 and went to a 8703e. I would like to share with all the reasons why. I really liked my 650 alot! but here are some reasons:

BB ROCK SOLID OS...NEVER A RESET OR FROZEN SCREEN

    REAL PUSH EMAIL

    8703e is lighter and smaller

    BB is high quality construction

I must also preface my option with the fact that i dont really get into alot of multimedia stuff, nor any unusual applications. Just PIM and email. THe one item that sucks with the BB is that its PIM leaves alot to be desired.

Other than that, i really really like my 8703e.

    hmm: I don't think so.
Looks like it, slightly wider but thinner, shorter and lighter:-
    650: 23 x 59 x 113, 178g
    8703: 20 x 68 x 109, 133g

You are correct...for whatever reason it feels smaller.

In the end: it feels a lot better than the 650 and 700 etc.

Everybody in our management team has BB's and one person has the BB8703 as his personal phone. and it didn't seem smaller than the treo when I held it...maybe lighter but not smaller in eye comparison. I could be wrong since I didn't have it in my hands for long and my last recolection of the BB is the latter 8700 and I will admit it when I am wrong. The form factor of the Treo probably is throwing me off.

Yes, but if you are rude and calculate that to a 3D volume taking only the maximum size into count then it is:
    650: 153341 mm3
    8703 148240 mm3

So, the size difference is 5101 mm3, or about 5cm3, which is about a little less than half a pen, not much but smaller. If you want something even smaller, get a Samsung SGH i320 (about 78.000 mm3) which about a little more than half the volume of a Treo 650, or a sony ericsson m600i, which is about 98.000 mm3, 2/3 of a treo, nokia e61 which is about 120.000 or 3/4 of a treo?

I like screen resolution, so i'd go for a treo, or perhaps the new from FIC, which has a 2,8 inch with 640x480 resolution. Or perhaps the HandyPC from road.de, but it'll be interesting to see what Palm releases in the future.

If i have to judge by the looks, i prefer Treo 680 to those 2 listed above.

The pearl is nice. I'll try one when they make one with a real QWERTY keyboard.

then have fun with your wider, taller, and most likely heavier device.

Got to agree. I'm a HUGE Treo fan - 3 Treo 600's, 3 Treo 650's. Switched to Blackberry 8700c and it's much better. Better phone, better durability, OS is infinitely more stable. Of course, the interface is not as attractive or intuitive, but the days of having to do a hard reset while driving and being left with a hunk of plastic until I could sync w/my computer appear to be over. Do NOT like paying extra for BB services (Cingular), but overall, much happier with the BB.
