It's been kicked around and around over at 1src for ages, and even most of the die-hard defenders of other devices have eventually conceded that the Sony Clie TH55 is the best PDA ever made (not smartphone - let's keep the debate on an apples-to-apples level please). I've owned two (just sold one after getting my Treo 700p). While I love my Treo, there is a special place in my heart for the TH55. It has been and remains to be the best PDA ever, not perfect, but in the give and take, it wins hands down over any and all competition.

OK, fire away (runs for the bunker )!

Palm VIIx. Absolute genius. If I lost my Treo tomorrow, I'd go straight to my old VIIx. Runs on alkaline batteries, a relatively efficient radio, and not to mention the genius in the web clipping apps. It's just too bad palm.net shutdown two years ago...

    I like Vx, or m505.

    Sony are quiters.

The Palm Vx was a thing of great beauty. I had the Palm wallet with the Vx inside - it was so cool!

    I traded it for a Treo 180g

UX50 was great device but battery life was what made me switch to the TH55. It was the best PDA. I do miss the CLIE. I've had almost every one of them. Nothing beat the CLIE devices. Treo came into the picture only because of convergence. PDA in the TH55 was and still is unbeatable.

Th55: no bluetooth, no keyboard, poor button layout.

It was a good PDA, but certainly not even close to the best.

The European TH55 had bluetooth. It was available via Expansys here in the US. Button layout was kinda weird. I didn't like having the application buttons at the extreme bottom edge of the unit. Keyboard I really couldn't care much about since it didn't have a phone built in.
