Different strokes for different folks. I love my Sprint Treo 700p, I had the 6700 and it was nice, but the Treo is much better for MY use. I have been checking out the Excalibur, I also had the Q and loved the design, and WM Smartphone isn't too bad.

Everyone keeps saying the Treo 700W version of WM5 is modified for usability, but I have both the 700W and the 6700 and see no difference in the OS other than the today screen plugin. Sure, the form factor and location of the buttons may be better, but I see no difference within the OS itself.

Treo..not, I completely agree that the bluetooth on the MDA is much better than on the 650. But what is the free software you were talking about that let's u play mp3's through your headset? I'd like to use it too.

I was a long-time Treo user, but my 600 was on its last legs when T-Mo released the MDA, so I switched. Its certainly not perfect. The battery life is only just adequate, and I find strength of reception to be not quite as good as the 600 (more comparable to the 180 actually), but all in all, I'm really not tempted to go back. I guess I'm just not a true believer as far as POS vs. WM5. Hey, they're just operating systems. Question is, can I get my mail, get my work done, get phone calls, get reasonably fast, satisfying Internet access. WM5 and the MDA let me do all of these things pretty well. I agree that Smartkey helps, and also STRONGLY recommend the Opera browser vs. Pocket IE. A huge improvement.

I had a ppc6700 last december & I had it for exactly 21 days before I returned it. It sucked- it was slow, it locked up all the time, the screen was pixely, the connectivity was crippled, etc. Basically it had all the problems of real windows. I had to hard reset it 4 or 5 times in 3 weeks b/c of unfixable glitches. I will NEVER go back to a WM phone. My 700p does everything a WM phone does & more.

Must have had a defective phone bro. I have a wizard as well and it is not slow at all. After overclocked to 260mhz I find it faster than my old Treo 650. In the 2 months I've had my Wizard, It only reset on me ONCE.

I guess not everyone is going to agree with all of our likes/dislikes about the Treos/Wizards...

I agree with you. Kabuki's must have been busted. I have mine clocked at 240 and it is fast enough even for Skype.

Have you tried the trick of using smartskey to intiate omapclock? Works like a charm.

Can you PLEASE edit your post to just a few smilies? Your post alone makes viewing this thread a real pain on my handheld.

I also use Smartskey but not jointed to Omapclock. Instead I use Batterystatus working with Omapclock. It has its own Today bar with battery info, carrier, and the current Mhz. It's an absolute wicked program and a must have for any Wizard owner or other PPC's.

As musch as everyone wants this to be a war treo vs mda. After going to Europe and talking to a few of my friends there. I don't think the MDA will stand a chance once the treo is realsed in Europe. They are dying for a device like the treo. With one handedness. The best thing they have is the BB, hp hw6900. That is about it. You can't take a mda out and send a msg while you drive (not safly any how.) It think if MS focused on devices like the 6500 or 6900 they may have a winner. Even nokia could slap the MDA if the E61 had a camera and was backwards compatible. I think it is more so the device form factor than the acutal software. The 700w is speaking for itself.

You know, in UK its illegal even to hold a cellphone in your hand when the engine is on, not to mention trying to text using it. Not that people dont do it, but there are specific law about it, and its being enforced also.

I've had my PPC for about three months, and the thing reset maybe twice on its own, after I tried to run apps from the card (an apparent no-go), and I had to reset it myself maybe twice or three times. Have never lost data, and it'll do things my old Treo 600 could never do.

Fast forward to about two weeks ago: upgraded my wife's Treo 650 to a 700p. The thing has soft-reset at least six times, and some games that ran fine on the 650 either don't work on the 700p or won't stop when you hit the HOME button (have to either soft-reset or remove the card).

By the way, can someone post a link to that alternate browser that's supposed to be superior to IE Explorer?

I used the sprint 6700 for a day. I didn't like the way it felt. So, after i ordered my Hp6015. I saw the 8125. Maybe it was just my fat fingers that day. But the 8125 sure seemed smaller. Oh well, i;ll check out the 6915 and if I dont like it I will get a tytn.
