Interesting. Looks like they are splitting hairs in some respects between a ALP-like approach, but building to a full computing replacement platform. Very interesting indeed.

I've only had my Nokia E62 a couple of days but I am already VERY impressed. This phone has alot of little extras that have to be added on other phones or are just things we wish we could have on other phones. Examples are:

    1. Built in profiles
    2. Light sensor for automatic adjustments
    3. 1st rate web browser
    4. User assignable soft keys
    5. User assignable quick launch icons on today-like screen
    6. 1 button press and hold task/app switcher
    7. Built in speaker dependent voice recognition software (no need to train)
    8. Built in USB mass storage capability
    9. Easy voice recording while on phone call capability
    10. Clear and easy "use as modem" mode for tethering
    11. Built in conference calling feature for up to 6 people/connections

I am REALLY impressed with this phones built in features. It is obvious that the engineers who developed this unit were thinking from an end-users standpoint. All of this for $149 after MIR or $199 without it is just amazing. Sure wi-fi, 3G, and a camera would have been nice, but htey have more than made up for it with features and price point. Now if I could get Isilo, Repligo and TCPMP to be released for S60 3rd edtion for it I'll be sitting pretty.

I can't emphasize enough how AMAZING the web browser is. It is without a doubt the absolute best mobile web browsing experience available.

Now, where can I find one of these darn things, a used one so I can save a few dollars, so I can give it a test run? I have been checking around for a little while but people keep dissappearing.

I really have enjoyed using the MS push email on my Qtek 9000 and 9100 and am hoping that this Exchange service will work just as well on the E61. Can anyone verify that it does? does it synchronize well with the Contacts, Calendar and Tasks as WM5 device do with Exchange push? I don't want to switch over to Blackberry service since I don't have a BES and like having this...

After a brief dalliance with WM5 and a Vario II (TyTN equivalent), I just ordered an E61. I've read the reviews (which have been pretty much universally positive) and probably would have got one before but was put off by pictures of the device side-by-side with the Treo 650 (which I have at the moment). In the pics it just looked so wide, but having actually held and played with a real live device, this worry has pretty much disappeared. Sure it's wider than the 650, but it's also much thinner and noticeably lighter. Can't really say how much I'll like it yet, but I certainly hope my experience is as positive as yours. At 9.99 (a bit under $19) with a T-Mobile UK contract at least it's not going to break the bank

For those who're interested here are some reviews of the E61:

Exchange sync is remarkably easy as well. You can sync Contacts, Calendar, and Mail but for some reason you can't see the notes on your calendar entries. That's one of the bad things but SBSH Papyrus will re-enable this feature as soon as it's released (which accordimg to the developer will be very soon).

How exactly does it sync with Exchange? Is it the same way my Treo 700w does? Via Exchange Activesync?? How would you compare the E61 vs. the Treo 700 when it comes to Exchange?

There is no ActiveSync as that's a Microsoft product. The E61 has you download your choice of push e-mail clients /Good, BB, ExpressMail, or Exchange). I've never owned the 700 but I did own the 8125 and it is just as good if not slightly more user friendly when it comes to setup and use.

I absolutely love the Direct Push on my Treo. My phone gets emails faster than my computer running Outlook 2003. Does the E61 retrieve emails the same way - even though not using Exchage Activesync? I would not want to even think about trying the E61 if the emails were not as good as my Treo.

anyone have any experience with this?

If the device is using MS Exchange for push, I think that is the Exchange ActiveSync that people are refering to, since that is what it is. This is different from ActiveSync on your home computer though.

I just want to make sure before getting one that I will be able to get email pushed to me. I do not want to buy Blackberry service since the host Exchange I am using gets my email to me just as quickly and pushes all of my PIM information just as quickly.

I am worried about what "jlczl" says about Calendar notes not showing up on the E61. I use those extensively! Maybe I need to hold off until the T-Mobile Dash is available...

it is "true" push mail. I get it just as fast if not faster than Outlook on my laptop.

Just found out that Papyrus for Symbian 3rd edition has been released. You can now see the notes on your calendar entries with this software. Go to http://www.sbsh.net/products/papyrus_symb/ to check it out.

At this mmment of time E61 really rocks
I have been an avid user of mobile phones and when i got my first communicator the treo600 then the treo650 overwhelmed by the possibilities and, if only it came with wifi. Majority of the people who needs a communicator needs it coz of emails and surfing the net on the go efficiently with all possibilities of doing so be it gprs,edge,3g or wifi.i just can't comprehend why palm refuses to put it wifi..but for now my e61 serves the purpose excellently

I just picked up the E62 and you can sync notes. Not over the air but by using the built in sync function. You can also sync your to-do list the same way. I have two issues with the phone so far, I can't turn off the to-do list view in the calendar so my list shows above the calendar and the second issue is when I go to my calendar view, it doesn't show today's date but for some reason it shows Monday so i have to scroll back to today.

Hey E61 users. Did you see that there is an updated google maps that shows live traffic? www.google.com/gmm from the awesome E61 browser will bring you there. Amazing program that doesn't crash. Sorry. I haven't had any apps
    crash the E61.
