Does anybody know what the upcoming Motorola Q is going to be like (beside expensive)? Will it have the Wi-Fi that the 700W skipped? What about EVDO? Just being slimmer doesn't turn my head but Wi-Fi would be tempting.

According to Motorola's Offical Q Website there is no WiFi on this model. Still a pretty spiffy looking device, though! The Nokia E61 will have WLAN capabilities. The trade-off is that it runs the Simbian OS instead of Microsoft WM5.

This just in: PhoneScoop has a video review of the Motorola Q: http://www.phonescoop.com/articles/video_moto_q/ That is one small phone!

it is small (i like), it looks slow though (hour glass when opening email?), resolution looks like 240x180.

I considered that one of its most tempting features

Does this mean that no EVDO either?

will the q be availble on verizon or will it be on a certain network for a while before its released everywhere
    Got Treo?

Verizon will be getting it first (I am not happy with that) and a GSM version will be out Late 2006, early 2007. Verizon is going to cripple the life out of this phone. I would not be suprised if it eventually gets that socialist Verizon menu.

It would be funny if Verizon force Moto to stuff an antenna onto the Q.

I really do not think that would happen. But I am willing to place a bet that they will disable the BT teathering along with very limited active sync options. It really suprises me how many people subscribe to verizon. I mean, I sell them but I would never, ever use them. And really their network is not really that big. They show their romaing partners on their maps. The completely full coverage map is much smaller.

The data plans aren't that expensive when you consider that the engadget post refers to data plans with buckets of minutes.

    Sprint is still cheaper though.

If the Q were available on Sprint. I'd snap it up.

Now, what's so great about the Treo 700p, other than a touch screen:

Moto Q also does EV-DO; less than 1/2" thick AND ONLY $199. Why does everybody keep beating me up about my signature? When will they wake up and smell the roses (and HTC's, Moto's, Samsung's of the world).
Remember, the "P" in PDA stands for personal.
If it works for you, it is "P"erfect.

I just made a new post about the Q in the 700w forum. Palm OS vs WM is a highly subjective thing, but this Q definitely looks like a 700w-killer to me. I hope Palm didn't have long-term plans for the WM space.

Mind you, I'd have to play with a Q in person before making a final judgment, but based on what I'm seeing, I see very little compelling about a 700w over the Q.
Now THIS is the future of smartphones.

That's the great thing about competition... it drives companies to be better to get their share of that all mighty dollar..

Samsung has been showing a device even thinner and shorter than the Q but with full blown WM Phone Edition (I think)... so some could say that there is something better than the Q about to be released...

Nonetheless I think the Q will be hugely successful riding on the razor craze consumers have been all hot for..... and Motorola is just perceived to be better to most consumers.. not saying that its true.. but general consumer consensus seems to regard Motorola as a more trusted and known brand...
