"Taiwan-based HTC has announced the world's first DAB-IP enabled Smartphone cooperating with BT and Virgin Mobile.

The main kicker of the upcoming HTC Trilogy is its integrated DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting) hardware for receiving digital TV and radio content. The service will be provided by BT and Virgin Mobile in Europe.

As for the innards, rumors say the handset will be powered by Windows Mobile 5.0 Smartphone Edition and offer 128 MB RAM and 64 MB ROM. It will also sport a 2.2-inch color QVGA (240 x 320 pixels) TFT screen, micro-SD card slot, built-in Bluetooth 1.2 and 1.3-megapixel camera.

Quite expectedly, the HTC Trilogy is designed for tri-band 900/1800/1900 MHz GSM/GPRS cellular networks.

Regarding the Mobile TV, HTC said, “Live mobile TV is set to become a reality. BT and Virgin Mobile will be the first mobile operator in Europe to sign up to broadcast digital TV and radio service for mobile phones leveraging HTC’s latest device.

At the moment it is not known when the device will be available or what it may cost."
