Lol! I think that is hilarious! I heard that joke on Sirius yesterday "If I need to know the temperature I'll drive past a bank"...
Anyway, my apps are Spb Weather, Spb Diary and Resco Today Plugin.

Try Wisbar Light- all the functions without the skinning. Its been rock solid for me.

Should this thread be merged with the other one, that has almost the exact same title?

No kidding! I think there's two PPC Today threads, and a 700W one as well...

    I second the motion!

i like weatherpanel being there. the idea is to have all the info you may need at a glance on one screen, seems pretty logical to me. anti WM5 people complain how its not simple with one hand use, it doesnt get any simpler than hitting one button to see one screen with all the instant info you need.

i also use resco, but wasnt much a fan of the Spb programs, yours seems to look pretty good tho

When I was running Wisbar Advance abd SPB Pocket Plus my device really slowed down. When I eliminated Pocket Plus the speed went back up to normal.

The fact I'm OC'ing my processor helps too.

There are some really helpful tools with Pocket Plus (like multi browsing windows, view web full screen, etc....) that I often invaluable.....or at the bare minimun, Very helpful.

It is the Pocket Plus start page plugin that is usually abused that then becomes the real resource hog. See post number 2 above and see how I have deleted all tabs and only have one line worth of small icons with the today plugin. If you have multi tabs loaded with a collection of links with icons, it will beging to bog down any system.

Just an observation I have found to hold true on my WM devices. But with the limited memory real estate of the 700w, even that may be enough to bog it down.

There was an interesting thread at PDAPHONEHOME.COM on over/underclocking. Two manufacturers of scaling software made the claim that underclocking would increase battery life via fewer CPU cycles per unit time. Makes sense doesn't it?

Unfortunately (or fortunately), a contributor wrote a program to track realtime battery usage and it turns out that just running either software package increased battery usage by about 90-100% over simply allowing the processor to scale native or without any software user interface which is really all the two software packages are. You will all know of which two software scalers I speak.

So if you need to over clock, go ahead, but don't underclock thinking you are saving battery life through the day.

That's good to know. Now I don't feel guilty about having my device OC'd to 264 24/7. BTW, battery life is so good on the 8125, OC'ing it has not affected my usage patterns at all.

I have been playing with mine and modding for weeks, and have finally settled on this for right now.

I use Pocket Breeze, Contact Breeze, iLauncher, Pocket Weather (I love SBSH products and the support is great)

There are apps out there that can give you "Today-type" screens on the Treo. I've tried a few. My 650 was my first Palm after having PPC's for a few years and I really missed having all the info of a today screen. There's Today (freeware), 2day, and others. I think Datebk does something similar. I use Agendus Pro for my Today screen.

With all the emulation going on, I'm pretty sure I've seen something that looks like a WM today screen here somewhere. With screen size, you'd probably have to consider icon size and so forth. Hope this helps.
