We're all in favor of re-using others work where possible, we do it quite often when we borrow bits from Ubuntu, Firefox, Jolla/Mer/Sailfish OS ;-)
All the FireFoxOS APIs are drafted and submitted to the WC3 for approval, they're not ment to be Gecko specific. As a matter of fact, that is kind of the exact opposite of what FireFoxOS is aiming to accomplish. Every FireFoxOS app I've tested on Chrome (latest) works perfectly fine, so that should be a pretty good indication of compatibility at this juncture.
It will likely work without much issue, but don't quote me on that. Even if there are some small snags, it'll likely still be a hell of a lot better than trying to roll your own from scratch.
Why duplicate work when the team already has so much on their plate?
