Booted into 17 DEC dev package:

- Still no WiFi....button is on, says WiFi is disabled, no internet (tried browser)
- Did open Preware 2; once I hit search, the red bar appeared; but there is no way to go back (as keyboard is not working, or cannot be brought up at least). Will have to adb reboot to get back to webos again.

Not an IRC guy, so I am not sure what ports expects to be functioning or not.

At least this time, I had a NANDROID backup made this morning! LOL

There is a 19 DEC build in the WIP folder of the staging feeds. May try that later on, see what's up there....

EDIT: This time, I could not reboot to recovery and adb stopped recognizing device. Had to battery pull (DOH!) boot into recovery then re-install my CM 10.1.2 backup

I think the search bar in Preware 2 is not working, that's right... will not that on my list of todos for the holidays.

Actually I did not manage to boot the image from December 19th on my GNex.. tried like three to four times, but never got into the system. I had that issue before. Strange... but pulling battery is required quite often still, my GNex stays without back cover all the time now.
Also luna-next needs to be killed quite often (this is in the emulator, though). Although it got a lot better.

Still there is a lot of progress. Most of it is not really visible on the top, that is true. And there are kind of regression issues much too often, too. I don't like them too much. :-(

I was able to boot the 19 DEC "dev" image / zip. (We are supposed to test "dev" image right?)

Thoughts:
- definitely some background / under the hood improvement as cards open faster and gesture area works better.
- WiFi still does not work (though previous changelog said it was)
- Opened Testr app - all tests available failed though.
- Memos app opened quick; not able to add memo yet.
- Universal browser does not open
- Calculator scale out of whack, but opens / closes smoothly
- Tweaks does not open
- Got the virtual keyboard to open when tapping "Just Type"; did not let me enter anything though; could not swipe out of keyboard; had to reboot to bootloader then fastboot reboot.

As my GNex is my daily driver; had to reboot to recovery then install my NANDROID backup.

Will likely try latest build this weekend as my GNex is my daily driver.

Update:

Well, I tried the latest ZIP available (19JAN2014) but it will not boot up at all.
For some reason, the device did not recognize the "Fastboot reboot" command.

I believe that after sideloading, there is a step missing from the instructions.
After sideloading, one is still in CWM.
I believe at this juncture, one should reboot into bootloader then issue "fastboot" command.
But I am unsure...hopefully I can get that sorted.

There were some issues with the recent Nexus builds and testing the system update mechanism that was included as well. I believe this might be sorted with a new build which hopefully will be available shortly.

Hey, is webos-ports still alive? Looked at the daily chat logs and they were empty beginning in early February thru today.

There have been newer builds since I last posted and just recently a template was added to the wiki for mako (nexus 4).

In fact I believe there is a new gnex build as of today 06MAR.

Plus, after all this time do you really think they would pack up shop with no announcement? Totally not webos internals or webos ports style at all.

Don't worry, we're still alive, kicking and moving full speed ahead! IRC servers suffered some DDOS attacks in recent months. This is probably the cause of the logs not being created anymore. I'll talk with the team to see if that functionality can get fixed again somehow.

We now have some kind of keymanager back.
And I finally succeeded in syncing my owncloud server with owo-emulator. So we are moving ahead.

How far has the project of porting (open) webOS to the galaxy nexus / nexus 4-7 come already? Is it somewhat stable already? Could the status be compared to Ubuntu Touch so far? I think with Ubuntu calls can be made, camera works sort of, and some other basic functions do work. Would it be possible to load it up to a galaxy nexus / nexus 4 and use it as a daily phone, if i dont need any apps other than the ones on there?
