Other than radio drivers the 4 models would be basically the same... Phone Finder results - GSMArena.com

CDMA drivers, however, are always proprietary so throw out the i515 for Verizon and the LTE L700 for Sprint. Chances are mighty slim you would ever get voice calling or SMS on them...

That leaves the I9250 and the I9250M... The I9250 has LTE on bands 2300 and 2400 MHz... wikipedia says that it is LTE compatible for AT&T and T-Mobile, but most other sources I can find say no it isn't compatible with US LTE...

That leaves the I9250M as the obvious choice, unless your country supports LTE on the bands available.

OK... Following the instructions for the Alpha 2 build I'm failing to boot into OwOS.

Maybe my mistake is that my GNex is on 4.3 build Y???

I'll revert it to 4.1.2 and see how that goes.

BTW - using a Windows 8 Box.

Use this guide for ADB integration into the system path: http://www.droidrzr.com/index.php/to...-windows-7-pc/

Now instead of all the cd commands to change paths - simply go to the folder containing the files you want, hold shift + right click and select "Open command window here" to have the correct path open for pushing files.

Nope. Same result.

It starts to boot and shows the bootloader unlocked screen, then a black screen and after a few seconds (3-5) it goes back to the bootloader unlocked screen and boots up Android.

Have not gone back to this method in awhile as I was able to install the alpha2 with my old Linux mint 10 box.
Will try again with the current instructions this weekend.

I don't see why it would be due to Windows.

The push goes through to the N4 and the boot command tries... The failure seems to be on the device.

I can try performing it on an Ubuntu Box.

Well....I installed latest image (21SEP) using my Linux Mint 10 box and it booted into main Open webOS homescreen.

However, it wasn't as well scaled as the Alpha2 was; especially the gesture area; and I was able to bring up the drawer once, but upon minimizing, I could not get it back.

Also, I am still a little confused by the new 'last' step of entering "adb shell" to full boot into luna. The device is recognized by ADB and entering the "adb shell" command does not appear to actually do anything on device.

If I have some time, I may go back to the June Alpha2 to see what's different versus the last build.

Ok...booted up alpha 2; never let me connect to adb to perform the "adb shell" command; is not recognized as an ADB device; but did get an openwebOS "first use" acceptance screen.

Screen scaling is correct; as well as app drawer/tabs
Recognizes AT&T sim and could connect to my wifi network as well;
Cannot make call; using browser is not usable really; gesture area works though.
Preware2 hangs on feeds (naturally)

Looks like webOS, acts like webOS but slower naturally due to acceleration not being 100% yet.

Dont know why the 21SEP build acted different but it could be because the team is trying out different things and as such, that build is not as complete as the alpha 2.

- T

EDIT: can only shutdown by battery pull....novaterm did not seem to work...

I did try one final time with the Windows method. I reverted the GNex to 4.0.4.

The ext2 file could not be pushed due to improper location.

I've reset the GNex to 4.3 and I'm downloading the files now on my Virtual Box Ubuntu to try it over there.

Same failure to boot into OwOS. It tries, just doesn't get past the lock status screen before going down and rebooting to Android...

Maybe i"ll try that Sept 21 build...

Difference between Alpha 2 and newer builds is Luna-next. Alpha 2 was still using (modified) HP/LG Luna based on QT 4.8, latest builds have QT 5 based Luna-next hence not all features there since it's being built pretty much from scratch to design it logically and get rid of legacy.

Herrie: when exactly are you supposed to enter the adb shell command, and what does it enable to fully boot into Luna? Thanks!

Important note!!!!!!!!!!!
The GNex instructions at the wiki have a small error during the adb push step.

The wiki says push the webos-dev-image-maguro.ext2

It should be adb push webos-ports-dev-image-maguro.ext2

RumoredNow: That could be your issue.

Right...

I've edited the push command to match the file... and the file to match the push command. Either works (or seems to) The terminal (Ubuntu) or command (Windows) box waits a suitable time, then gives me back a prompt. I don't get a count of how much data and time was used in the push, but I don't get a failure message either (except the time I tried with the device at 4.0.4???)...

What version of Android are you using on your GNex, Mudshark?

I am running CM 10.1.2 which is an android 4.2.2 ROM. It shouldn't matter IMO.

I am supposing that the fastboot kernel is looking for the file with the proper name when its run.
You could try to move the ext2 file via USB to storage then move on device via a file mgr to proper location.

I think I got a bad download on the image. Trying again from scratch.

Astro File Manager confirmed there was already a copy with the proper name, in the proper directory/folder from my last attempt. The manual replacement failed to boot.

What I'd like is an md5 sum to check...

Image download errors confirmed... Just based on the file size. Chrome tells me it should be 742 MB. The first copy I had was just under 300 MB and the last one stopped at 65 MB.

Need help getting clean copy.

It just keeps disconnecting from the repository before the download can complete.
