With the release version of Open WebOS barely 3 months old and many developers working on multiple port methods this is what someone over at Tom's had to say:

webOS Makes Comeback on Google Nexus S

Give me a break! The worst part is he made it appear as though Engadget was saying this when it was the Tom's person editorializing.

HP offered webOS to the open source community towards the latter stages of 2011, with September seeing the firm release an open source beta version for developers, which was soon followed by webOS 1.0. However, it failed to garner any traction with developers or the community.
    Wow... 2011? Someone messed up...
    Did you know:

webOS ran on a Treo 800 during initial development.

That is one very poorly written and highly misleading "article."

I more burning up over the fact that you have to go three "via" links deep to get to where webOS Nation is erroneously cited as a "via," when in fact we are the source for the detailed info presented Tom's, Engadget, and Liliputing. But I'm not bitter.

It's like I have always said about the Best Buy articles, many kept pointing to the multiple articles on the story, never mentioning they came from the same single article that had a single anonymous source.

The internet has turned a whole bunch of nobodies into "journalists", and has turned the dumb into "experts". The majority fail to look for the source.
I love physical keyboards... but there is two devices that would make me consider a slab, one is something running a full version of Open webOS. The other is an iPhone!!!! HA HA just kidding (about the iPhone that is)...

It's just saying that HP made the announcement in late 2011 that webOS will be offered as open source.

It's not even that they fail to look for the source, it's more that they choose to ignore it in favor of perpetuating their own propaganda / agenda.

In my school, that would be called "plagiarism."

understandably so. i was compelled to add my $.02:

"this article is incomplete and not entirely accurate.

up-to-date webOS Open Source info can be found here:
    http://forums.webosnation.com/

webOS was and still is a great mobile OS, and is being developed slowly and carefully by those who recognize its potential. "

Agreed completely, but the "writers" of the additional articles are always caught in the catch 22 of not having the "latest news" on anything.... the people posting the BS here surely had an agenda, I would give the benefit of the doubt that some of them reporting the story were just being lazy and had to jump on the store no matter what. There was a general lack of analytical writing and followup to the original article though.
