I think this one should definetly be grilled more intensively than Roberts.
It is exactly for this reason the pick was so disappointing.

I think she will be fine. Not much of a paper trail...she is a woman to replace a woman...and she isn't really outspoken and if anything...extremely loyal to Pres. Bush. Im betting regardless of the Dems posturing that she will be confirmed.

The name that I had expected to see when people say "but there have been non-judge appointees in the past as well" is Earl Warren. That hero of the left (and really America in general) was a governor (and lawyer).

My guess is that she will have a very tough time being confirmed with headlines like this.

HARRIET MIERS SUPPORTED FULL CIVIL RIGHTS FOR GAYS AND LESBIANS; BACKED AIDS EDUCATION PROGRAMS FOR CITY OF DALLAS

Rebublican senators will have to answer to their constituents next election.

1989 and 1990. From what I have been able to find on her, like most political individuals, she seems to swing in the direction that she needs to so that she appeases the audience she is targeting.

I thought the same thing from salon's front page. Had to take a cheap shot.

I guess it's worth noting that all I did here was use photoshop's burn tool, added red to the eyes, and then the hood. Just worked with what she gave me.

I don't follow politics as closely as I used to, but this pick does seem out of left field.
