I used to like Einstein's. The variety intrigued me. Now I don't care much for it. The self-serve aspect is great, especially when you can throw some ice in there first and make iced coffee. :-)

When I lived in Canada, there was a coffee shop I hit on the way to the ski slopes. Planet Coffee or something like that. It was on Hwy 1 on the way out of town. I loved that place and brought some espresso back for special occasions. Maybe I'll have a cup tomorrow.

Diedrich is probably the strongest and most bittter . I am not sure whether they have Diedrich 's outside of So Cal.
Einstein bagel gives you more flavours in plain coffee.
Seattle coffee falls in between the two .
The place where i live starbucks is right next to Einstein bagels . I get my coffee from starbucks and bagels or sandwich at Einstein's.

Starbucks has become an integral part of American life. I am not sure any other coffee company in the world is as popular.

Warning - Coffee is a known risk factor for Pancreatic Cancer. No cause or effect scientific relationship established yet.

Love is a chemical state of mind that's part of our genes and influenced by our upbringing. We are wired for romance in part because we are supposed to be loving parents who care diligently for our helpless babies.

The einstein's I go to is right next to a bux. I hate the people that get drinks from one and food from another. Just pick a place, dagnabbit!

    I'm anti for two reasons:

    1) I used to work in SF, and there was a small chain there (Pasqua) that had great coffee. Starbucks couldn't make headway against them, so they bought the chain. It was kind of borg like. (and their coffee isn't as good as Pasqua's was)

    2) There are some things I'm not proud of as an American when I travel abroad. One of those is our cultural exports.... Seeing McDonalds and BKs all over the world is kind of embarasing. Starbucks has become another one of those. It's one thing to see them all over the USA. But they're everywhere!!!

Hey, what's wrong in choosing the best of both ??
Are you sure you wanna eat bagels at starbucks or that dry pannini sandwich.
Hmmm..........., Einstein's is a much better option in that respect.

Grande Mocha - thing I like best is you get the same drink in pretty much any store. They used to be bitter but somewhere along the way they got it right.....

There was a place in Portland I used to frequent in the Hollywood district that used dark chocolate flavoring and a small local roasters beans - talk about fan-freakin-tastic, man....

Santa: I do like Starbucks coffee (black with nothing in it.) I had a couple questions for you though:

Why did Pasqua sell if Starbucks wasnt making any headway?...just a really good money deal?

I actually see it as a compliment when another country wants (primarily) american businesses to come in and set up a shingle. To each his own I guess.

There's nothing really wrong about it. Maybe I should post it in the petpeeves thread. I guess I think the Einsteins coffee is "good enough" to avoid having to go to two places. You're right, though, bux food is terrible. It looks great, but then you realize that it has to be disgusting since it looks that good but was baked days ago and then mailed.

I am at starbucks 4 days a week. I go at the same time each morning, and the staff knows my name and exactly what I am going to order. A Venti Carmel Machiatto, non-fat milk, sugar-free vanilla, melted really well. *grin* Other then the internet, it is my only addiction.

You're allowed one transgretion, and that was it. Run from $tarbux as fast as you can, or wrap your head really tightly with foil to sheild yourself from the evil waves. Once they get in, the next thing is you know your poping gum, while twirling your hair and calling yourself Bambi or Babs or something.

    Stop the madness!

Personally, I prefer patronizing a locally owned, non-chain establishment. Something nice about a good cup of coffee from a place that is local, unique, (and in most cases has free WiFi)!

Besides, Starbucks roasts coffee to sell milk...

    I'm guessing money.

When I go to another country, I don't want to feel like I'm still in the US. I want to drink the kind of coffee they drink there... I want to eat the kind of food they eat there...

Like I said, it just feels a little too borg like for me.

Fair enough (I probably wouldnt buy starbucks coffee if I was abroad simply because I like trying new things.)
