It's nice to learn that everyone inside the crashed Air France's plane survived.

After all these years, I was begining to thing that most of the safety devices (emergency slides, life vests, etc.) were pretty much useless. On the other hand, the plane had already "landed" when the accident occurred.

My question really is, when did we ever start trusting the French?

    Glad everyone is ok.

Is it true French planes fly backwards?

    And ditto to everyone surviving!

    Disclaimer: Glad no one died.

Fact: It's obvious why the plane crashed, the French must have surrendered to the problems they found prior to take-off.

FYI: Canada has the largest French population in the world that never surrendered to Germany.

and thank God everyone escaped that burning plane... all within a couple of minutes!!!

I kindly disagree. French bashing is funny, just as the french like to call American slobs (for the most part true) we like to call the French wimps (for the most part true). Not everyone mind you, but the French nation has a long history and paper trail of deserving the wimp label.

Back to the airplane safety issue:

I represent a man in an airplane crash case. He and his secretary were able to get out of the plane. The plane was on fire, and the rest of the passengers and crew (about 15) didn't get out and died. The man said it looked like flaming mushroom clouds against the night sky.

Airplane crashes are scary. The people on the French plane are very lucky to be alive.

Tell us more. Anything apart from WWII? Would you agree it is much easier to defend a country with only Mexico and Canada as neighbors and two oceans keeping e.g. the Japanese and Nazi Germany away? Vietnam?

I would say they had terribly bad luck about being involved in an airplane accident at all (considering likelyhoods).

What's a major airline to you. Every airline that flies in the United States must be certified by the FAA. I would suspect that Frontier Airlines flies more miles annually then Ghana Airways, both on the list. It's your list, so you need to figure out which airlines are American otherwise you shouldnt use it.

I wonder if people would have been "joking" if people had actually died on that crash?

Airline crashes are no joke - regardless of nationality/geography. Most instances innocent people die.

One time as my flight (US Air) took off from Philly (about 7 years ago) the left engine fell off. We landed safely and I took another flight a couple of hours later. I was lucky that time.
