So I'm getting my first dog.

The litter was born six days ago. I'll have her (I'm getting a female) the first week of September (at about seven weeks old.) Haven't seen her yet but should be getting some pictures soon. There were four females in the litter and I'm getting one. She's not coming cheap but I think she'll be worth it.

She's a Field Bred English Springer Spaniel. Regarded as the best upland game hunting dogs in the world. Known to catch pheasants in mid air!

This is one of the dogs from her pedigree line.

The mother is from the U.K. and the dad from N.Y. I have to pick her up in Boston (or the breeder is going to meet me half way.)

    I'm psyched!

Now I gotta find a good gun dog trainer.

Beautiful. Keep her away from clulup and the fondue pot

Funny, but that's just what I was looking at on-line.

I'd like to do it locally so I can be a part of it. We'll see.

Very cute pictures. What type of dog is that?

Our house is going to be quite full too.

We'll have two cats, three girls (4, 2, and one due in Dec.) one fish and the pup. I'm a little worried about the cats.

He is an AKC certified American Cocker Spaniel. His color type is whats called "blue roan". While he is a purebreed, we have no intentions of breeding him. He is just about 6 months old now (those were older pics) and is going through his obedience training, and man does he need it!

Dont worry about the cats. Introduce the pup when you get it and they will sort things out on their own. Our cats still run the house and Whistler knows it.

Here's my girl. Got better pics, but these ones were handy. She's a pure bred red beagle.

    And I actually adopted her.

But... she doesn't know she's a dog (she acts like a human).

    Is she a howler?

Not at all. She's a beagle who:

    - free feeds
    - doesn't chew (on anything, won't even touch rawhide)
    - only barks as a watchdog
    - doesn't care for cat doodie
    - likes gingerbread but hates mangoes
    - can stand for a full minute at a time
    - brushes her own teeth with her nails
    - lets the cats beat up on her
    - will jump up for an adult, but never for a child

Ugh... she's weird. But she's my best friend and she keeps me going.

OMG That might be the cutest puppy I have ever seen! He's ADORABLE!
If he ever needs a new home for any reason.... ;-)

Let me tell ya, there are days when I want to send him packing...then he cocks his head, looks at me with his little black-n-white face and I forget about what ever it was he just did. He is also quite the babe magnet, of course being married gets in the way of my making use of that . We keep him cut very short (not the typical long haired cocker spaniel haircut) and with his black-n-white markings he looks like Snoopy.

Igreenburg...Look into "Blackwood" dog food. It's a little more expensive than most and hard to find (usually only in feed stores), but it's worth it.
