Does anybody know of any free app's that will allow me to make backup dvd copies of my dvd collection? I don't want to leave my kids' original dvd's in our minivan--would prefer to leave burned copies in there. Thanks.

You'll need Nero to burn them to DVD

IF you can find an old copy of 321 Studios DVDXCopy Platinum, that's an all in one package. But it was ruled illegal, so you'll need to do some creative searching for that one.

and if you can find the old image tool (0.91.4), you can create dvds from your rips using dvd decrypter.

    or so i am told.

Actually, if you are using DVDShrink you don't need Nero. Shrink will do the burn itself.

Are you sure about that? My version of DVDShrink burns using the Nero engine. I don't remember seeing an option to burn without Nero.

And I burned a DVD this morning with Shrink/Nero.
    I'm back!

Whatever method it uses, it is a great backup solution.

I am absolutely, positively, 100% sure that I was WRONG!!
I knew I never had to open Nero to use Shrink, but I forgot that Shrink burns THROUGH Nero.

using clonedvd2 you can use nero or just use clonedvd2 (option to use either program for burning). and if you add anydvd (running in background) you can skip the dvd decrypter step
