    Of course its well known that in our sordid past the Democratic party has been the lynching party.

    Which party was it that largely opposed the 1964 Civil Rights Bill? You guessed it, those open-minded, tolerant, peace-loving Democrats.

    The numbers on the 1964 Civil Rights Bill:
    By Party and Region:

    The Original House Version:

    * Southern Democrats: 7-87
    * Southern Republicans: 0-10
    * Northern Democrats: 145-9
    * Northern Republicans: 138-24

    The Senate Version:

    * Southern Democrats: 1-21
    * Southern Republicans: 0-1
    * Northern Democrats: 46-1
    * Northern Republicans: 27-5

    Looks like it pretty much went by region. But keep spreading your lies and half-truths.

    Thanks DaT. I take it you are not fond of this group, what is it they promote that you disagree with?

    Why is that a lie or half truth? Looks like 118 Dems against and 40 Repubs against, that is a 3-1 ratio.

    From same source:

    "Most Democrats from the Southern states opposed the bill, including Tennessee senator Albert Gore Sr., Arkansas senator J. William Fulbright, and West Virginia senator Robert Byrd."

    Yea, that's what the numbers I posted stated. You're half-truth implication is that the democratic party was against the Civil Rights act. It was divided by region equally between parties.

    That is true. What is also true is that Democrats routinely are identified as the party that pushed the CRA into law...and that all Republicans resisted its passage. Obviously it was a bipartisan effort, the the Dems racebait to this day.

    Too bad DA will never see this. He's probably still mad at me for calling him a liar. I suspect my statement struck a chord.

    Well, at least you've dropped the charge of "lies". But I'd still like to know where the half-truths come in. My post implied exactly what it said. Most of the votes against the Civil Rights Act were Democrats.

    He doesn't seem to shy about throwing out the Liar label himself.

    Do you ever get dizzy from all that spinning?

    ... need to stop living in the past and look towards the future. The GOP definitly does not stand for Civil Rights... not today. Not for gays, minorities, low income, etc...
