Yes I did, I read again, you mean organized "Bible Thumpers" do not believe Wiccans are religious, correct ?

Got it thanks for the clarification

Come to think of it the "Neverland Ranch" is really no different than the church. Think about it, you got one guy (Michael) dressed up in funny clothes, he is dispensing wine to the kids, touching kids, etc.

P.S. I think MJ is innocent of these charges.

Yes, they both seem to worship the same things.

Guess I'll take a crack at it...

Biblically speaking (and feel free to discount this based on the value you place on old texts), Jesus refers to his "church" as the collective group of those who recognize him as the "Christ." However, over the years, members and/or alleged members of the church have reappropriate the term and used it to refer to their own particular sect.

As to the people with the big hats, a case can be made that the one with the biggest hat holds the office in direct succession to Peter who was the first leader of organized members of the church. However, to equate unilaterally "the organization" to "the church" does both a disserivce.

    It was the Catholic church...

One of the first steps of John Paul's papacy, which began in 1978, was to begin procedures leading to the rehabilitation in 1992 of Galileo, the Italian astronomer persecuted by the Church for teaching that the Earth
revolved around the sun. The Inquisition condemned Galileo in 1633 because his teachings clashed with the Bible, which read: "God fixed the earth upon its foundation, not to be moved forever." Galileo was rehabilitated after 359 years.
