Not a shred of musical talent in my body.

As an aside, I watched "Ray" last night. Excellent movie. I didn't know that Jaimie Fox had that much range as an actor.

I posted a link to a site where clips of my music are available. Any of you other musicians have clips available (that you would be willing to let us hear)?

    Wow..
    Guitar, woodwind, and brass!
I played sax for 6 months when I was young.
I had been playiing piano and guitar for so long at that point that i could not deal with the frustration of trying to get a consistent tone out of that woodwind.
Needless to say, I decided I would never be a sax player.

yeah. i started playing sax and trumpet in high school. then i learned guitar and it's all been downhill from there. after learning the joy of chords as opposed to single notes, i was hooked.

Trumpet player #4 thus far (only counting active players). I am still in school at Boise State University and although I'm not a music major, I'm paying for school by ruling the marching and jazz bands. Also, my wife is a fabulous jazz vocalist. We met in a big band.

I can get a decent sound out of reed instruments (and flute actually), but why would I want to?

Yikes. All that guitar and you can't play?

    Well, I have:
    Jackson Soloist
    Fender Thinline Tele
    Martin Mandolin
    Epiphone MB 200(?) Banjo

    And various keyboards laying around.

    Go with the PRS.
But avoid the Otopus Santana body and go for the smaller body.
When you learn to play you will thank me.
PRS's are beautiful guitars and VERY versatile.

    And learn to PLAY!
    Learn a G chord
    Learn a C chord
    Learn a D7 chord.

Learn those three chords and then you will know 50% of the guitar tunes played in pop music!!!

    Nice!! A Mandolin!

As I learn more and more about my guitar, I appreciate it and enjoy playing it even more. I bought a '97 Fender Squier Supersonic (yes, still made in Japan!) from Ebay for 250 last June. It's got a silver sparkle finish, very very gaudy, but the neck is fantastic and it plays really well (or so I think, since I lack experience). My friend Colin has a great page on all of his guitars:

    http://colin.rawmaw.com/guitarra/colin/colin.html

A few days ago I popped it open to figure out the wiring and have since soldered on a capacitor to one of the pots, thus creating a tone pot.

If only there was a modification I could do to my hands/brain to play better :P

After some quick research, I say forget both of those and get the PRS 513 Rosewood. I don't know anything about guitars, but at $6400 list price, it obviously plays itself while you just hold it.

    Laffs...

    Riiiight.....
Because the more it costs... the easier it is to play!!!
    That makes sense.
Wish I had realized THAT YEARS ago!
