Back to our regularly scheduled flaming, I resent the (thinly) veiled implication that 1911 is a redneck. ("Yeehaw" comment) Simply because one might be pro-gun, does not necessarily equate to being a redneck.

When you say, "come in here", I take it you mean this part of the Treo forum, not the whole board.

I also note you didn't respond to the fact that the vast majority of my posts are in topics that others have started. Is there a quota, so many 650 posts to so many off topic posts?

Are you the one who assigns value to my posts on this board? It seems to me that there are all kinds of tech-savy people writing about the 650, but very few with the point of view I present. You misunderstand me Rico:

Geez, don't pigeonhole me. Anyway, a person who is already willing to rob a victim may very well premptively assault a person through fear of the possibility of the victim retaliating. True, it may also steer away the less determined criminals.

I am in no way saying this, how are you making such a flawed deduction? I'm stating that my belief lies in other ways of preventing crime, such as improving the needs/coverage of the police force, rather than fostering the need for a citizen to protect him/herself to such a degree. I live in a city that has its fair share of crime, but NEVER have I felt the need to arm myself. The cops aren't swarming the streets but nonetheless their presence is doing SOMETHING and I feel safe. It just doesn't strike me as a logical deterent to have even more guns in people's posession...

And as for waiting and seeing if it's panned out...1911sforever put it right with other states following Florida's lead...because looser gun control laws work. It may not make sense to some folks...but the simple truth is...they work. Sorry.

Once again, you're making conclusions that I'm not even alluding to, perhaps due to poor wording on my part. Giving a person more freedom with a weapon is also opening the door to more (potential) abuse with said weapon.

As for my preference for "a victim getting "beat-down" because of his/her skin color/religion than just pulling out a weapon and protecting himself"...I think it's far more long-reaching to prevent the assault from occuring in the first place. What makes a "safe" neighborhood safe? Why can I walk around and not feel threatened because of my middle eastern heritage? It's certainly not because I'm armed or stronger than my would-be aggressors. And it

"Yeehaw" is about as close as JoeBar gets to making a substantive comment or taking a stand on anything.

I don't like the implications of "redneck", and I'm a bit sensitive to innuendos that direct thinking in that direction. I am a Southerner. Just because I speak slower than you do does not make me hard of hearing or retarded. Just because a person owns guns & hunts & fishes does NOT make that individual a redneck. Since the advent of Mr. Foxworthy's popularity, I've grown quite weary of the phrase "You might be a redneck...."

So, yes. I am, at least partly, serious.

It was either "yeehaw" or "woohoo".. There was nothing implied, that's just what my fingers typed first.

If I'm gonna call names they wont be veiled...

Now that, I like! Sorry for the misinterpretation. I really am sick of "Yeehaw, redneck!" and other such phrases.

Come in here was refering to TreoCentral. Look your point of view is just as valid as anyone else's. People like you are the reason of why we got to where we are today. I just thought that, with the ratio of your posts the way they are, you would be better serving the community of Treo owners, if you let us know some of what you know about the Treo. Instead of ranting politics. I was just wondering why you come to TreoCentral when you don't seem to care about the Treo. Just my thoughts. Look I am glad you are here, you do offer a different point of view, which adds to the stew of TreoCentral, plus you are fun to watch, as I am sure people can say the same about me. I just feel the politics thing all the time should be mixed up with knowledge dispensed about the Treo you own.

What a relief! You didn't call me a redneck, but you accuse me of being so unstable that I'd shoot you for not making substantive comments in a political discussion forum.

Does your Treo cradle look like this?

    http://discussion.treocentral.com/at...achmentid=6018

Then you might be a redneck.
