lol, dead grandma, here's another link to a site I took a pic of, they are a little better. The psp uses text entry the same way mobile phones do, it has the phone number pad for you to enter text. Sorry that the pics weren't great.

It'll be a long wait for you. The Treo 5000 doesn't come out until many years from now.

I don't own either but a guy at work has both and I've played with each and the PSP wins hands down. The best reason for getting a DS is that it plays Gameboy Advance cartridges so if you've invested in a library of those and for some reason you still don't own a GBA-SP with the backlit screen you might consider the DS as a way to play all your games on a nice screen, but otherwise the PSP is smaller than the DS (when the DS is open), better ergonimcally, has a better screen, better graphics, and arguably better games although both are new so ultimately the game situation will depend on developer support which will depend on how well sales are but all signs point to Sony hitting a homerun and finally dethroning Nintendo from their position of handheld omnipotence.

Get your wife the PSP, it's also way sexier!
Oh, so they have internet on computers now!

Mtreosexual, I know you are a Mac user. Maybe check out PocketMac for syncing.

The sad part is, in many respects the syncing capabilities are better than that on the Treo.

Luminees, Ridge Racer and Wipeout will probably see me with a PSP this May, but I'll be grumbling forever about UMD, Memory Stick and the lack of touch-screen.

Thanks Boobookins. I've got my money put aside for the PSP then. Just waiting for it to come out in Australia. Signs tells me that it won't be till after E3 (May 2005).

People buy digital cameras eventhough they have a camera in the treo. People buy DAPs eventhough the treo plays MP3s. I don't see this being any different, if you are a gamer..............

I got the PSP w/ Wipeout Pure...Its amazing..Between the PSP and my 650 I'm all . Def worth the buy. Go look at one(play Wipeout) w/ the $$ in your pocket, & I guarantee you'll buy.

However I did have to return my first PSP..it had a locked(white)Pixel. But the EBX I go to exchanged it no prob. and the 2nd one is perfect.

Also one piece of advise/story RE screen protectors: Of the two I've had (Hori, and Pelican(that came with the protective top for the PSP that screws in and 4 UMC cases for $9.99)brands the Pelican protector is hands down better, and easier to apply. The Hori cover had tons of bubbles. The only way to get rid of them is to rub them out( ) w/ your fingers, which leaves a residue on the cover.

The Pelican protector went on very easily, no bubbles, and you don't even know its there.

Also unlke protectors for Palms (which we've all had) they come one per pack(as opposed to 10, 15, or 20 w/ Palm prtctrs ). So if you mess up(esp w/ the Hori brand) you're out $5.

I actually bought the Hori when I exchanged my first PSP(afore mentioned pixel issue)thinking it may be better, and because I'd removed the Pelican, and thought it woudn't go on correctly after removing it etc. But I saved it by sticking it on an unused Palm screen protector. After struggling w/ the Hori, I grabbed the Pelican, and w/ a piece of Scotch tape, I cleaned the sticky side of any dust particles. And to my suprise/joy, it went on perfectly w/ no bubbles etc.

So not only is it better on first application, but second as well. Also it costs $4.99. So for $5 more you get 4 UMD cases which are essential, and a handy plastic flip-top protector(Black) for the PSP that scews in the two holes onn the top of the PSP. Which I'll probably use until a nice case comes out.

    Thanks
That mac connection seems intresting .
    Still confused.
Definitely great device for audio , movies and games .
With Wifi internet capabilites. PSP sort of addresses the shortcomings of T650 in becoming the all in one gadget.
    I hate the UMD concept.
Still confused, but looks like, I will end up gettin one .

I, too, bought the Pelican and Hori screen protectors. I first tried out the Pelican. I didn't have any problems putting it on, but I noticed the screen was not as clear anymore. The screen quality, IMO, is the biggest wow factor of the PSP and the Pelican screen protector sorta took that away. So I decided to remove it and try out the Hori. I didn't really have any problems putting this one on either. When I did, I just had 3 air bubbles and they were easily removed using a business card. After that, I watched the Spiderman 2 movie and I couldn't tell the screen protector was on. The wow factor was still there. So IMO, the Hori is better, mainly because it doesn't take away the clarity of the screen. I hear most people prefer the Martin Fields screen protector over any other protectors, so I got those too, but I won't put those on until I over-use the Hori.

Anyone got the Brando aluminum case for their PSP yet? Looks cool, but I like Logitech's PlayGear Pocket case better.

Glad to have you on board, Fittske.

For anyone interested in getting a cheap 1GB Memory Stick Pro Duo, Dell is selling them for $95.19. I just ordered one.

Pretty good deal. I'm set with the freebie one for now. I just use it for saved games. I'm not ready to retire the iPod yet.

How are the games on the PSP? Are the graphics on the object edges smooth or pixelated? Any slowdowns? How is the battery life? I haven't seen one on hand yet as the stores don't have demo units (as they will sell on their own).

I have an Xbox and a PS2. Will I be disappointed after buying a PSP? Actually, sis is willing to buy me one. So far I have been holding her back....

    Thanks!
