Regardless if you are conservative or liberal, I think most can agree that there was a usurpation of power (and IMHO-illegal) when the Congress tried to overturn the Florida State Court decision with Terry's Law.

And throughout our nation's history, both conservatives and liberals have complained and cheered when it comes to judicial activism and judicial conservatism. (I guess it all depends on which side of the fence your on )

That's really funny! Your friend is quite the comedian. Given his size, maybe he's on the Sam Kinison career path.

a friend sent the picture to me. i didn't say i knew any person in the picture. my guess is the kid with the ramones shirt was being a prankster. doesn't mean he necessarily fosters ill will to all christians. perhaps just the zealouts outside of the hospice.

either way, i thought the picture was funny, and i'm glad you did too!

not sure why it prompted 3rd grader fat jokes, but i'm glad to know what you'll resort to!

    cheers.

Zealots? Because they don't want to see the woman die? Wow.

Most of the people out there are trying to show their support. They are harming no one.

If you look at the 3 of a kind sign, I'd say they are zealots yeah..
The kind of people that show up in those kinds of protests tend to be..

Same as that there are allways heaps of left wing zealots who show up at anti war demonstrations..

I'm not saying all of them are, but a large number is..
This is why I'm allways hesitant to go to a political rally, I don't want to be associated with extreme-wing people of either side..

    Overruled! speculation.

But seriously, don't you think you are taking this a bit too far?

Except that from all we know, the woman did not want to live under those conditions. Her parents see that differently, but for more than a decade now, the courts have ruled that her husband is right and not her parents.

Everything that mattered about this woman, apart from her outer shell, died long ago. Her parents claim to believe Terri Schiavo's body can get better with therapy, but that is, simply put, nonsense. Every bit of credible medical evidence shows that. It is physiologically impossible. We are talking about a body without a brain, exept for the brain stem in the back of the head which controls breathing, heartbeat, and other primitive functions of an organism.

The priest Thaddeus Malanowski, who gave her a drop of wine as communion, said he "could not give her a fleck of bread because her tongue was dry". This is the typical sort of nonsense that surrounds this case. Terri Schiavo's body has been unable to swallow anything for 15 years now because her brain is too damaged to allow even swallowing. This has been proven beyond doubt in many tests. Why does this priest pretend she cannot swallow because her mouth is too dry? Is he really that ignorant about her condition, or is he trying to fool people?

You mentioned zealots... if they would really just try to prevent the final death of Terri Schiavo's body, that would be acceptable (even if against the law). But did you see the sign in the picture equating Michael Schiavo with mass murderers facing death penalty? What about the numerous death threats not only against judges and Michael Schiavo, but also against his familiy? Even his sister-in-law was confronted with a man stopping his car in front of her and yelling "Murderer! If Terri dies, I'm coming back to shoot you and your family."

Would Michael Schiavo really have gone through all that if it would not have been Terri's will? I really wonder if he and all of his family members will get out of this story alive. So many religious extremists willing to kill for their "pro life" quest, so little respect for Terri Schiavo's will, according to her closest family member, and to the ruling of countless courts.

    good post clulup.

looking more closely at the photo, the woman with the 'three of a kind' poster has a Conan-the-Barbarian armband.

I'm also somewhat convinced that the guy standing to the left of the 'Ramones kid' has a sign that reads, "Judge Greer = Poo Head". I could be wrong- anyone with eagle eyes is welcome to verify.

Of course I'm not saying the entirety of the parents' allies are overcome with zeal. Just that painting them all as such is in itself a act of poor taste.

Face it, if it's in Jesse's interest, he'll show up...he's been out of the limelight for awhile.

Holding a homemade sign? Protesting for weeks on end? Seems like most protesters (60's antiwar, civil rights, etc) fit that description. People seem too quick to prejudge and deride anyone willing to take a stand today (regardless of the stand they are taking).
