So eBay seems to be a cheap place to find cars but would you buy from a dealer via eBay if the car was still covered by the maker's warranty, the dealer has only positive feedback and no BBB complaints and the VIN check is clear?

Sure, if the price was right and you were able to inspect the vehicle. Many dealerships have turned to Ebay to provide another outlet to sell vehicles.

I would consider it, though I'd like to test-drive it first.

Exactly. If the seller were local, I'd consider it. I'd need to physically inspect and drive the car.
