They said the increase was because of the terrorist attacks. I'm at my renewal now and they are going up 18% because of the hurricanes. Next year they'll go up for another unknown reason. My homestead insurance has gone up 50% in three years.
I feel for you, because I know that even though I didn't even file a claim, my insurance rates will go up because of the hurricanes.

It's hard enough to even get homeowner's insurance in this state now, and by raising the rates every year, it makes the lack of choice in providers even tougher.

Well here we are February 13th and I have gotten no response whatsoever from my ultimatum. I guess I get to go to the courthouse tomorrow and see about filing suit in small claims court. I amazed that it has come to this.

I'll post an update when there is one.

Really bad luck, woof, sorry to hear. There is one thought that passed my mind when reading about the story of the laptop you gave to your co-worker: Is it correct that your success also depends on the success of the co-worker, meaning if he makes money, you will participate in his revenues since you are his sales manager? That's how I would expect it to work.

So maybe the judge will ask the same question, which could give the impression that you giving your laptop to the co-worker was not totally altruistic, but something you did to increase the chance for more revenue in your sales region/team/whatever, meaning also more personal revenue?

Doesn't really matter if Woof received a benefit from loaning the laptop or not. The co-worker is still responsible. It's the same as if the co-worker was leasing the laptop, but lost it. The co-worker is still responsible for the laptop, whether it was a lease or a simple loan.

thats right but he was a miserable salesman and I actually lost money in addition to the loss from the laptop. Sales that reversed and resulted in chargebacks and of course the loss of time.

he is still in the organization, but not in my area. I resigned my management position at the end of December. Partly due to this hassle and partly because I expanded my product lines.

Stay strong, Woof. You are in the right. The fact that he's still working there and hasn't offered any additional restitution shows what a callous SOB he is.

Amazing how simple it is to sue someone. Took me all of 15 minutes to get it processed.

My court date is April 1st. Guess there is humor in everything. Gone have my neighbor, whose a great big power lifter, serve him. That will be fun.
